One look - Two prices - Neutral Eye

Can you tell the difference between my two eyes?

This is an idea I've been deciding whether or not to blog about and after messing around with my makeup last night (like you do when waiting for X Factor to come on) I decided to try it out.

The plan is this: I'm going to attempt to do one eyeshadow look and do one eye with cheaper drugstore makeup, while doing the other eye with more expensive makeup and see how it turns out and what the differences are.

I decided to start off small, with a neutral eye complete with slightly winged out eyeliner.  This is the makeup I used for the drugstore eye.

I used my Sleek Storm palette, Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara and Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hours Felt Tip Liner.  I used two eyeshadows from the palette. On the top row, I used the light matte tan colour that's third from the left and on the bottom row I used the darker matte brown which is second from the right.  No idea what these colours are called :)

For the higher end makeup, I used my Urban Decay Naked Palette, Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash Mascara and MAC's Blacktrack Fluidline.  I also used two shadows from this palette, the third from the left, Naked, and the fifth from the left, Buck.

This is how I started off. On the left we have the "cheap" eye and the right is the "more expensive eye."  The photo above shows the tan colour from the Sleek palette on the left and Naked on the right.  I just applied these colours all over the lids.  Not much difference, right?

I then applied the dark brown Sleek colour in the crease and outer corner on the left and on the right we have Buck in the outer corner and crease.  I think the Sleek colour is slightly darker here.

I then added the eyeliner going from the outer wing and bringing it along the lash line, stopping just about where my pupil is.  I didn't want to go the whole way along the lash line this time.  On the left is the Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hours Felt Tip Liner and on the right is MAC's Blacktrack Fluid line that I applied using my MAC 210 brush.  I don't see much difference here, although the felt tip liner made it easier to create a more crisp line and point.

Finally I applied a coat of mascara to each eye, top and bottom lashes.  On the left is Max Factor's False Lash Effect and on the right is Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash mascara.  I like my Max Factor top lashes but prefer the Bare Escentuals bottom lashes.

I'm really happy with how this turned out :)  I think the clincher for me was when I asked my sister which eye she liked better and she said "Aren't they the same?" hehe

So for this neutral eye with winged eyeliner look, save a few quid and use the drugstore products :)
