Lush Ocean Salt Review

I'm a big fan of exfoliators.  I love trying different ones in the hope of finding something as good as the St Ives one that was out years ago.  I think they've changed the formulation over the past few years and it's like there's less of the exfoliator bits in it these days.  The old stuff was great and left my skin so soft.

Enter Lush Ocean Salt Review.  I got this for Christmas after reading some good things about it.

Lush says "We take the lime and the coconut (and grapefruit and sea salt) and mix them up together in our stimulating, fruity, vodka-based face scrub.  For a complexion that glows."

It was €16.85 (ouch, but hey, it's Christmas!) for 250g of product, but I think it'll last me for ages.  When I opened it first, the top of it had a blue tint to it and I'm not sure what that was, but I took a photo anyway.

I mixed up the product on the first use and the blueness on top blended into the rest of it.  It has a wet consistency, but isn't runny.  You can feel and see the coarse and fine sea salt easily and I love that they feel like the main ingredients, rather than the lotion it's in, if that makes sense.  It smells clean.  Once again, my lack of ability to describe smells lets me down hehe  It says it contains lime, coconut and grapefruit, none of which I can smell.  Maybe the lime at a push.  I'm not a big fan of the grapefruit, as a food or a smell, so I'm happy I can't smell it.

I use this in the shower simply because when I start to apply it, some of the coarse sea salt drops away, leaving plenty on my face, it just makes a mess.  I usually scrub for a couple of minutes and then rinse it off leaving my skin gorgeous and soft.  I don't know if I'd say it has given me "a complexion that glows" yet, but that could also have something to do with all the rubbish I ate and drank over Christmas.  When The Big Diet starts this Friday, we'll see how the complexion goes!

Bit of a warning:  For the few times I've used this, when rinsing it away, I made the mistake of letting the water going into my mouth and warm salty water is highly unpleasant!  It made me think of when my throat is sore and my mam makes me gargle with warm salt and water, ugh!  So, rinse with mouth closed!!

I really like it so far and would recommend it.  I just wish they did slightly smaller sized containers of it.  That being said, I wonder how hard something like this would be to make myself? Hmm

PS Do you like the blue leopard print pjs I have in the background hehe

  1. I haven't ever tried LUSH exfoliators, mostly because I haven't heard much about them. I might give them a try, as I quite like the sound of this one... it's a bit different :)

  2. I hear this is too harsh for a lot of people but I do like quite scrubby scrubs so it may well be fine for me. Since I got my facial buffer from The Body Shop I haven't been using an exfoliating product though.

  3. I looked at this when i was last in Lush and couldn't decide wether to get it - definately going ot try it out:)
    lovely review!! x

  4. @communicatingbeauty: it is very different! what exfoliator do you use? am always on the hunt for the holy grail products :)

@Primp and Preen: Is your facial buffer a sponge thingy or a brush? I got a sponge facial buffer in Primark a while ago and it's grand, but keeps pulling apart, v annoying :)

@..R May A..: It's deffo worth a try, even see if they'll give you a sample to try in the shop, lemmie know how you get on if you try it :)

  5. I found this far too rough for my face. Became a body scrub!

  6. this has been my exfoliator of choice for years its great!
also find it brilliant when I have a hangover as the salt and lime juice really wake me up .. I quite like the taste it leaves on my lips .. possibly a strange admission ;-)
