Monday's child is fair of face... eh maybe not...

Last night I decided to get myself organised and chose the make up I was planning to wear today.  I went through my stash over the weekend and found a couple of bits that I'd forgotten about, namely my Sleek face contour kit and my Nars duo in Kalahari.  These are the rest of the bits I decided to wear today.

I get up at 5.30 am and am sitting at my desk at 6.30 am, so organisation is key for me, while my ancient computer at work is starting up, I start putting the war paint on.

There was a glitch in the system.

This is what I wore on my face today.

In my panic trying to get out the door on time, I left my make up bag on the counter in the kitchen.

Instead of taking this cute little leather make up bag I got in Spain last year:

I took this yoke:

Doh!  Cut to me rooting around in my handbag hoping I'd suddenly come across a spare foundation rattling around and a mascara!  Actually, note to self, I just realised I hadn't actually packed a mascara in the first place...

My skin is in bad shape at the moment due to not taking care of it properly so thank God I found that concealer pen from Aldi in the bottom of my bag!  I lashed it on under my eyes and on my many blemishes and hoped for the best but lads, I came to the conclusion that I really do need mascara to look like a human being.  The fact I was exhausted and my eyes looked beady and villainous to begin with didn't help things at all.

So I apologised to all my colleagues who had to look at moi sans make up :)  I will not be posting a face of the day due to the fact that it could cause you to have heart failure/go blind/run from the laptop screaming!

Lesson learned though, I'm going to make it my mission to take care of my skin so that if something like this happens again (and say a prayer for all your sakes that it doesn't) that I won't mind going bare skinned :)

So ladies, do you have any skin care tips and tricks?  I drink about 2 litres of water a day so that's a good start!

  1. I'm so sorry, I'm sitting here dying laughing, I'd say you got an awful shock when you went to look for the makeup bag!

A make-up free day does your skin no harm (even if it wasn't by choice!)

Reminds me of the time years ago when I had a maths exam in school and instead of bringing the scientific calculator, I brought the telly remote :)

  2. Oh hun, I feel your pain! I look like a dead mouse with no slap on, and I don't think a Spar bag would help me in this regard either, except to the point where I would need to neatly place it on my head, so no one has to go through seeing me make-up-less :D! xo

  3. "to the fact that it could cause you to have heart failure/go blind/run from the laptop screaming!"

Haha you're hilarious :) I'm sure it's not that bad, but you should take care of your skin, as should I, I keep forgetting lately haha

  6. Karen...
I had make up on today and i was the one that scared you... Remember??
You looked spottles!! Unless you're tellin porkies about your spots and that concealer is as good as you make it out to be, then I need to get my hands on one of those!!
As for spot tips... I can hook you up!! Spot creams that contain salacylic acid can be good for removing those big painfull white-heads... Black heads need to be removed by gentle and REGULAR exfoliation.

  7. I hardly ever get spots, my only problem is redness to my very pale skin but every day I cleanse, tone and moisturise and if possible exfoliate my black-head prone nose with Soap and Glory's "rub your nose in it" which makes an immediate improvement! I'm also able to tackle dry patches and redness by using MAC's comfort cream which is my absolute godsend and HG moisturiser! xxx

  9. Ha! You're hilarious K, great story but I feel your pain because something very similar happened to me a few weeks ago when I forgot my makeup bag - my heart stopped because I had to go out to meetings and looked a state. Luckily I have a habit of losing things in my handbag and desk drawers and when I went rummaging I found almost enough products to look vaguely presentable...
