My favourite MAC eye shadow!

I have a grand collection of MAC eye shadows that I've collected over the years.  I look at some of them and wonder what I was thinking when I picked them up over the years (Tilt comes to mind, the shame)!  Last week I was watching one of Tanya Burr's videos where she did a beautiful look with Patina and I was reminded just how much I love that shade.  It's a frost finish and looks much darker in the pan.  It's a medium taupe shadow with hints of mushroomy gray in natural light but when the sun hits it, the golden sheen comes to life and transforms it, making it something really special.  The tarnished, almost antiqued finish is so different to any other shadow in my collection and makes me look bright eyed when I'm wearing it on it's own.

It has good colour payoff but I'd recommend using it with a flat eye shadow brush to pack the colour on and then use a fluffy brush to blend the edges.  Trying to apply it with a fluffy brush makes it go on really sheer, so if that's what you're looking for, go for it.  The texture is really creamy and smooth as you can see on my finger above.  Patina is one of those go-to shadows that I can slap on and run out the door to work, or if I've more time, I like to do what Tanya did in the video I linked to above.  I like to take Print eye shadow by MAC and apply it with a pencil brush along the upper lashline, concentrating the colour at the outer corner and in the outer V, then taking it halfway along the lower lashes.  A quick lash of Avon's SuperShock gel liner and you have a more dramatic look that's still very wearable.

What's your favourite MAC eye shadow?  I feel like getting a new one or two to add to my collection so answers on a postcard please... Or just in the comments below!

  3. I read about this eye shadow the other day. Unfortunately MAC is a little out of my student budget so I've desperately been trying to find a dupe :/

  4. Thats a lovely colour Karen!! I'm always looking for new Mac colours to try and every time I'm in there I always go for bright ones instead of getting some neutrals! I love Satin Taupe and All that glitters if they're any good to you! I think I prefer ((shock)) Inglot these days though, especially with the 20% off with Meteor! The daddy is bringing me and my sister to Blanch on saturday morning (all expenses paid apparently!) and I'll definitely be hitting up both Mac and Inglot!

  8. i love the way patina looks, it seems quite similar to a shade that's in Urban decay's Alice in wonderland but a bit lighter.
My favourite has to be Club e/s or Constructivist Paint pot. Love them both until the end of times :D
