Ladies, I have a new man in my life and his name is Tom Ford

Yes.  I did it.  I bought myself a Tom Ford quad a couple of weekends ago and needed to have the correct light to take photos so I could do it justice.  Now, the palette was €75 buttttttt I had a €50 voucher for BT so I felt totally justified in buying something as an end of January/I'm shopping with other bloggers treat!  I'm firmly in the camp of using vouchers to buy something you mightn't usually go out and buy, so I went forth and bought this baby.  First up, the obligatory packaging shot.  Isn't it pretty and shiny?  And very easy to get paw prints on, and the little gold claspy thing at the end is lovely with my man's name on it.

Now, when spending this much money on something, I had a decision to make.  Would I buy a palette I thought was pretty or one that I would actually use and enjoy?  I tend to buy higher end palettes (namely Chanel) and think they're too beautiful to use.  Stupid I know but I'm breaking free from that and enjoying them now.  So I decided to buy a neutral palette and was deciding between this one and another, finally deciding on this one because the matte colour didn't show up in the other one.

I present to you, Silvered Topaz...

In the words of Stevie Wonder, isn't she lovely?  I love the dinky details of having his name etched on the mirror and his initials on the plastic protective cover.  These things make me happy, no idea why, they just do.  The palette itself comes in a little fabric pouch for ultimate protection, for €75 blips it should come with Tom Ford bubble wrap.  I'm just going to let the next few pictures do the talking.

The lightest shade is a really shimmery, sparkly champagne colour.  It's not one I'd use as a feature in a look, more for an inner corner highlight or a wash of colour over part of the lid, either on it's own or to finish a look.

The next colour is a cool shimmery grey colour that has a green tone to it.  Colours like this really brighten up my eyes without being too garish.

The third shade in the quad is a shimmery taupe brown colour that has a purple undertone to it and the tiniest hint of pink that of course didn't translate in the photos.

Lastly is a matte brown shade with a hint of plum to it.  Pigmented matte shadows make me happy and this is a joy to work with.

I'll be using this over the coming weeks and will give you my feedback and show some looks I'll create with it.  We'll see if it's worth the spondoolies!

  11. I have Cognac Sable, I can't phtograph the packaging properly! Too shiny. The shadows in my palette are prone to creasing! ahhh.

    1. I was looking at Cognac Sable too, so hard to choose! That sucks that the shadows crease on you, I put mine on this morning at 6.30 and now it's just gone 8.30 and not a budge! I always use a primer anyway but I'm delighted they haven't creased yet :) Try a primer and see how you go. x

    2. I know, all of them are so pretty. I too had a BT's voucher, otherwise I wouldnt be paying the big bucks for it! haha. UD primer potion makes it last the best. Hardly any creasing at all I guess I'm just being picky haha. It was unnoticable to the naked eye. :P The first day I wore them though I used the smashbox eye primer. Big no no. Creased more than a pair of linen trousers. I looked in the mirror a few hours after application and nearly died. haha.
