The swatches above show it blended out and underneath, packed on a bit more, showing the dimension it has. While chatting on Twitter about it a couple of weeks ago, British Beauty Blogger described it as being "architectural" and I fell in love with that description, it's perfect! Now, showing swatches on my arm won't help you much in showing what it's like, so I bestow lots o' photos with it on my eyes.
The top row shows what it's like with a couple of layers on and the bottom row shows one layer, sheered out a bit.
I literally love everything about this shade. I love how there are hints of grey, purple and even brown in it. I used a fluffy brush to apply a wash of colour on my lids and this way, you can build up the intensity as much as you want. It applies easily on the eyelids and when I wore it out today, I didn't use any eye primer. I got about four hours of wear before it started to crease on my oily lids and rather than gather in the crease, it did the opposite and disappeared from my crease! I'll be wearing it to work today with a primer and will let you know how I get on.
Here's another set of photos where on the left we have a couple of layers of Permanent Taupe on and on the right is a single layer on. In these photos it looks almost mushroomy in colour. Depending on how you layer it and how the light bounces off it, it can give either a matte or satin finish and just looks really soft on the eyelids.
Have you tried any of the Color Tattoo 24hr eyeshadows from Maybelline yet? Have a look here at my post on the other three I picked up recently. I think it's safe to say that Permanent Taupe is my absolute favourite and I think we will be very happy together. The fact that I can wear it to work and also on a night out just adds to the love I have for Permanent Taupe!
That is such a gorgeous, understated colour. Very chic. I love these kind of taupe/putty tones that look like natural shadow.
ReplyDeleteI must say, I do feel very chic altogether when I'm wearing it!
DeleteHello! I've loved your site for a while but this is my first time commenting! I know the blogosphere is going mental about these but I actually hadn't seen this colour reviewed on any other blog and I love it!!! I also checked out your review of the other 3 you got and even though I'm naturally drawn to anything sparkly I think its this one I'll be getting! Thanks for the great review!
ReplyDeleteP.s I wan't your eyebrows! (but not in a creepy way)
Welcome CeeCee and thanks for your lovely comment! I'm trying to work on my brows at the moment, teetering on the line between non existent ones and big caterpillars!
DeleteOoh I am dying to get my hands on this shade! All the Boots and Superdrugs I have been to up here only have the bronze, gold and turquoise shades available for some reason! I got the bronze and gold which I love so I really hope more appear soon!
ReplyDeleteJust got my paws on the Bronze tonight and can't wait to play with it, I hope you find Permanent Taupe!
DeleteGorgeous shade!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?!
DeleteLovely review. I love the look of these shadows, I've been really getting into nudes and brown shades lately, so will definitely have to check these out!

This would be the perfect shade for you then missus :)
DeleteFab post Karen! This is the one I have my eye on - yet to come across these in the flesh though...
ReplyDeleteHopefully they'll roll them out soon so evvvvveryone can share the love of Permanent Taupe ;)
DeleteThat's a gorgeous shade on you, would be perfect to build up a brown smokey eye with too. I haven't seen these around, must keep an eye out online, local chemists never seem to have any of the popular things :(
ReplyDeleteThanks lovie, I've been playing around with it more and the more I do, the more I love it! Hope you find it soon missus
DeleteNeed!!!
ReplyDeleteYou dooooo!
DeleteOoo so simple but interesting shade. Haven't seen this anywhere yet except a lone tester pretty
ReplyDeleteI didn't even test it in the shop heh I just went on the swatches I'd seen on other blogs and knew it'd be a match made in the heaven :)
DeleteSing Hosannas, the WANT is strong with this one. I didn't realise it was so subtle!
ReplyDeleteNow to hunt it down, Wild Thornberries style!
It's booooootiful innit
DeleteI absolutely love this shade!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone does, you're in great company!
DeleteThat is stunning! I'm can't wait to pic up some of these - waiting for my trip to Nottingham! :)
ReplyDeleteDeffo stock up, they're so hard to find here at the mo!
DeleteI think it's a lovely shade but I really cannot justify buying more neutral eyeshadows. I have both Naked palettes glaring at me when I buy new eyeshadows.
ReplyDeleteIn my defence, I only have one Naked palette ;P And there was only one shadow in Naked 2 that intrigued me and that was the shade Tease which kind of looks like this one....
DeleteOoh, I think I need this x
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I said when I saw swatches online ;)
DeleteLove this colour on you will have to check it out, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks lady :)
DeleteI actually own this shade and find it realy beautiful in colour, but the annoying part of it is, that it creases like hell. really awful, because I thought, that i had found the perfect eyeshadow.
