The Foundation Files - Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation review

I am a foundation freak and refuse to count the amount I have in my collection for fear I will have heart failure.  Like most ladies, I'm in search of The Best Foundation Ever and I know in my heart, if I ever do find it, I'll keep on trying new ones, just in case they're better of course....

Last month in Belfast, I picked up the latest foundation offering from Bourjois without reading anything about it.  I didn't fare too well with the Bio Detox foundation last year but loved Healthy Mix, so I threw caution to the wind and gave this one a go, sans research.

Containing three correcting pigments; yellow to combat anti-dark circles, mauve to combat anti-dull complexion and green to get rid of redness, 123 Perfect is claiming to do a whole lot of correcting and camouflaging and fixing of bad skin!

I picked up the lightest shade, 51, after having a quick swatch.  It's thicker than a regular liquid foundation but blends easily.  I like to use a duo fibre brush to apply it as it gives me a light, even layer without caking.

You can see in the photos below that my skin had a lot of redness that day and 123 Perfect neutralized it beautifully.  It gives medium coverage and dries to a matte finish.  I don't usually like applying powder on top of foundation unless absolutely necessary but with this one, I don't even need to until mid morning.  One pump usually does my face nicely but on days where I feel like I need a bit more coverage on my cheeks or chin, it allows me to build it up nicely on the skin.

It feels nice and light on my skin and lasts a good 7 hours, nowhere near the 16 hour claimed.  After 7, I could definitely do with topping it up and my nose could do with a bit of powder.  I'm not sure how it would fare on dry skin but for my oily/normal skin, it's a keeper.  I've been reaching for this most days since picking it up.  It oxidizes slightly without making me have an orange face, phew.

I'm loving my 123 Perfect Foundation ladies, have you tried it yet?  It's €10.25 in Boots at the moment and I must say, apart from the Bio Detox malarkey, Bourjois hasn't steered me wrong with their products since I started my blog.  Long may it continue!

  1. I love this foundation, I get a pretty decent 10+ hours out of it with smashbox primer underneath. It's my new work foundation. If I was to go out after my 13 hour shift only minimal touch up and powdering around my mouth and nose would be required. Definately a win for me so far... Haven't tested it against flash photography yet. I agree, it oxidises ever so slightly but no oompa loompa- ness observed! I get compliements with this on!

  5. I have used the same No. 51 with a dual fibre brush on my dry skin for work twice so far. I don't think is lasts even 7 hours but then if it did last the 16 hrs it boasts I would be wondering what chemicals were in it. I get the same coverage as you and do like the smoothness when it's on. Just wondering though if yours is as runny as mine because the tester I used was quick a thick 'sample' but I was very surprised when I used it the first time? It doesn't oxidise on my skin at all and doesn't go flaky like some. I would definately buy this produce again but then I am a Bourjois fan. Hope this helps, Dee x PS. like your blog very much ;@)

    1. Thanks for the comment Dee! Mine isn't runny at all, give yours a good shake and see if that thickens it up. Glad you love this too :)
