The Foundation Files - Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation

This installment of The Foundation Files is all about Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation.  This foundation is for those who want full coverage and a flawless finish.  I mean Barbie flawless but without looking cakey.

For years now, Dermablend has been the go-to foundation for women who have skin issues like hyperpigmentation, vitiligo and rosacea and one of the Clinical Nurse Specialists in the Dermatology Department in St Vincent's Hospital Dublin teaches patients how to camouflage these issues with products from the Dermablend range.  It's fragrance free, hypo-allergenic, non-comedogenic, suitable for sensitive skin, will go for long walks on the beach with you.  Ha, was just checking if you were reading properly!

Promising to give 16 hour hold and a very respectable SPF35, Dermablend gives not only a matte finish but the most even looking finish I've ever had with a foundation.  It doesn't feel heavy on my face and doesn't clog my pores.  The photo below shows how thick it is and a little goes a long way, so I start with a blob and go from there.

I'll show you the obligatory before and after photo so you can see what I'm talking about.

It really gives me flawless looking skin, showing me what I'd look like if I didn't have blemishes, ah to dream of blemish free skin...  I was sent shade 25 Nude to try out and it's a bit dark to wear during the day but I like to wear it out at night.  Hopefully as I learn the ways of fake tanning, I'll be able to match my body to my face because I love this foundation and I don't even suffer from major skin issues!

One thing I will say with full coverage foundations like this one, it's vital that you shade and highlight your cheeks and face.  It's so easy for a foundation that offers perfect, even looking skin like this to make your face look one dimensional, so give your cheeks a bit of a contour, highlight your cheekbones and you'll be good to go.  Because I've an oily t-zone, I like to powder my forehead and down my nose and chin and that helps the Dermablend stay put even more.  I haven't worn it long enough to test out the 16 hour claim but I do get a good 6 hours before I need to powder my oily bits.

Dermablend Corrective Foundation is available in five shades, shade 25 Nude being the second lightest.  They retail at a very reasonable €21 and you can find stockists here.  Vichy have trained skin specialists in pharmacies throughout Ireland who can help you diagnose your skin type and pick out the right foundation and shade for you, so go get their advice!

  1. It looks so good on you!

Mine is actually gone, I got too used to its miraculous ways.

It's definitely a night time product but I had begun to mix it with my daily moisturiser too, such was my addiction!

  4. Got a sample of this in the lightest shade,I'm quite pale and it was a bit too yellow for my skintone but defiantly wearable. The woman who I was talking to about this told me not to purchase it seeing as I have acne it would just make it worse and if I do go ahead with it then defiantly not use it as an everyday foundation.I didn't find that it broke me out so I think I will give it a go and buy the full size, currently using EL Double Wear but on the look out for another full coverage foundation :)

    1. I hear ya! Both brands are brilliant so I'd go in and have a chat to the sales assistants and get their advice. They're all trained and know their products big time :)
