Anyway, this baby arrived last week and as soon as I saw it was for my skin type, I couldn't wait to get it on my face.
The benefits of this BB cream is as follows
- Ultra-absorbant perlight fights excess sebum throughout the day (I don't know what perlight is but it did what it said it would)
- Uncoated mineral pigments wok to even out skin tone, blur pores and conceal imperfections (I'm not a fan of mineral make up in powder form, but in liquid form, sign me up)
- Innovative moisturing polymers break instantly upon contact with the skin giving long lasting hydration (I had no dry patches throughout the day)
- SPF 20 (grand job, it's summer after all)
The BB cream itself looks and feels like a runny liquid foundation on the back of my hand. I use a brush to apply it after cleansing and moisturising my skin and it goes on smoothly and easily, not much blending required. Whereas the initial BB cream had an overpowering perfumed scent, this one smells ever so slightly like alcohol, but when it's on my face, I don't smell it at all. It dries to a matte finish and literally feels like I've nothing on my skin! Except I do! The coverage is really decent and it just makes it look like it's my skin only better. Look for yourself.
It evens out my skin tone effortlessly, covering my imperfections and blemishes but still lets my skin shine through. It covers my redness and does make the pores on my schnozz look smaller, so you have to give it 10 points for Gryffindor for that.
Now, BB creams claim to be your skincare and make up in one product, but I can't not put moisturiser on in the morning! I just can't, so I treat it as a foundation that has extra magical capabilities. I don't feel I need to powder it after applying it in the morning, but I do find as the day goes on, it starts to fade away around my chin first and so by lunch time, I need to top it up a bit. It keeps the shine at bay beautifully though and that makes me happy. The less I have on my face in the summer, the better.
Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Combination to Oily skin launches in June 2012 and will be a reasonable €14.99. There'll only be two shades, Light and Medium, but hopefully Garnier will bring out a dark one too.
So basically if you need hydration and radiance, stick with the original BB cream, but if you want a matte finish and a shine free face, try this one BB Cream for Combination to Oily skin.
Does this tickle your pickle?

10 points to Gryffindor! Love it! :) I have normal/dehydrated skin so I'm not so sure this would work on me...:( I am loving my L'Oreal one though! :) Apologies for excessive use of emoticons...
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the original BB cream from Garnier? It's aimed at the normal/dehydrated skinned ladies :)
DeleteI'm lahhhving this! Thought after last year that I'd be out of the BB loop but this works like a dream for my skin.
ReplyDeleteI do find it a little drying so always make sure to wear a moisturiser or serum underneath.
You're in the BB loop now missus!
DeleteIt looks nice! Finally they have something for us. I also like the No7 one, they also do one for combination skin!
ReplyDeleteWe combo skinned ladies needed something great didn't we?
DeleteI need to get this the old one was an oily mess on my face
ReplyDeleteI hear you, the original one was too thick and heavy for my skin
DeleteUm I need this now! I hope they start selling this in the states! This is the first time I saw this product anywhere!
ReplyDeleteI'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
DeleteWas this the light or medium shade?
ReplyDeleteThis was the light shade
DeleteI bought this today after reading a lot of reviews on it (I'm a oily/combo lady too) and so far, I really like it! I definitely agree with you on the fact that it doesn't even feel like I'm wearing any make up which is a big bonus for me!
ReplyDeleteAm in The Love with it, especially in the summer, I hate feeling like I've lots on my face!
DeleteLooks great on you, have tried the original version and i hated it with a passion. Ill give this one a try, hopefully my oily skin will be pleased with it haha
ReplyDeleteI think you're going to lahve it Andreea
DeleteI have oily-combination skin should probably give this a try! Never tried BB creams, but I do like tinted moisturizers for days when I want to be out of the door in about 5 minutes :D
ReplyDeleteThat's essentially what this is like Rads, a teeny bit more coverage than a tinted moisturiser though, and not much blending required :)
DeleteI just bought this today after reading your blog and a few others. I figure it would be nice for summer instead of wearing a heavier foundation. I was using Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer but wanted to try a BB cream (and one that was less expensive). :)
ReplyDeleteI am 36 with combination skin that occasionally breaks out, so I was looking for something that moisturizes without adding a bunch of extra oil. My wife (who is SO beautiful and also has combination skin) recommended the Lady Soma Renew Serum that she uses. This really works! My skin is feeling and looking better. I am so satisfied that I have recommended it to family and friends, something I rarely do. My wife always gets mistaken for someone who is at least 10 years younger than she really is. I imagine that is due to her taking good care of her skin and good genetics, but I must say that I think the hyaluronic acid in the Lady Soma Renew Serum helps to keep her (and me) moisturized and to keep the fine lines at bay.
ReplyDeleteOooohh! I hadn't heard of this one yet. I just bought the regular and yes, your description is accurate, it is a little greasy but my dry skin loves it. In the summer time, however, I love knowing there is an alternative. Your face looks really good! <3
ReplyDeleteThe renewl serum is amazing! I always wear under makeup with no problems and it makes the makeup set so well!
ReplyDeleteYour right, my oily skin hated the original Garnier BB cream, it looked greasy and even the light color was way to orange on me. The new oil free is much better on the shine factor but I still think the color is a little off on very fair skin tones. It does look very well on your skin though :). My favorite and very best BB cream has got to be the Skin79 Pink label. Still for drugstore it's not bad at all. Maybe it will work better on me when I get my slight summer tan. Lol
