My skincare routine - it's a biggie (that's what she said)

I'm really lucky in that I get to try out a lot of different products thanks to the blog and I thought I'd give you a little run through my ever changing skincare routine at this moment in time!

In the morning I wash my face using my Nuxe Micellar Foam Cleanser (€14.90)and my Konjac Sponge (€8), leaving my skin clean and fresh, ready to pile the make up on.  There's something about the bubbles that helps wake me up and get ready for the day at hand.

After that, I use my Plantscription eye cream (€45) from Origins and apply a layer of Image MD Reconstructive Serum (€64.50) that I'll be reviewing in full soon.  I tend to switch between a couple of moisturisers at any one time and Vichy LiftActive UV (€32) is my go-to moisturiser, interchanged with La Roche Posay Effaclar Mat (€17.25).  Up until a few weeks ago I was using La Roche Posay Hydraphase but Joanne robbed it on me and is holding it hostage.  Sad face.

And you can't forget sun cream now can you!  Most days I wear my Vichy SPF 50 Capital Soleil mattifying face fluid (€14.50) under my make up but on days where I'm going make up free, I stick a bit of La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ (€19) on and I'm good to go.  I keep a stick of Anthelios XL 50+ (€10.50) in my handbag in case I'm caught unawares by the sun.  Like that's going to happen.....

On my body, I've been using my Yes To Carrots Intense Softening Body Lotion (€12) and my Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion (€5.45).  I've been a fan of the original Aveeno lotion for ages and was delighted to see there was a lavender scented one that I love using before bed each night from H to T as Tyra Banks would say.  All three of these are lightweight, absorb really quickly but most importantly, they work and my skin is super soft!

At night I use my Nuxe Melting Cleansing Gel (€13.45) to remove my make up and then once that's gone, out comes Henry the Konjac Sponge again for some more cleansing time!  I will tell you that I'm a big fan of exfoliators and will try every single one going.  But since I've been using the Konjac sponge, I haven't exfoliated once.... That's major lads.... My skin feels really smooth just from using it and so long may it last!

At night after I've cleansed, on goes another layer of the Image MD Reconstructive Serum, another layer of Origins Plantscription Eye Cream and my Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins (€42) cream.  Then it's off to bed I go, ready to use them all over again the next day!

I realise that this is probably a lot of products for the regular person but I'm a product junkie!  This is what makes me happy and keeps my skin in relatively great condition.  This does change from month to month and I can do a review on any product you're interested in, just leave a comment below.  Skincare is always a tough one to review because it takes time to see if something works and give it a proper chance to show you what it can do.

And did you notice something in all those products?  NO MAKE UP WIPES!! Get rid of them ladies.  Do it.  Do it.  Do it!

What are you favourite skin care products of the moment?

  5. I also got rid of the face wipes, they dried out my skin something rotten. I'm just using the standard cleanser/toner/moisturiser but lately I've been using a lot of Olay stuff - my Nana should've been an ambassador for them, she had the skin of a child in her 80s. Fair play to you for looking after your skin so well!

  6. I've got the light pink spongy thingy and yes it does do a nice job however, i feel duped as it doesn't lather up and it's only after you've 'patted your face dry' that it's really soft. Maybe it's because I'm so used to seeing redness after I washed my face that I'm just not used to it???? I'm now after the Bioderm stuff but it ain't cheap. What's the NUXE stuff like - a winner or a ditcher???
