We were smart and just stayed downstairs, avoiding as many bold children as possible and shortly afterwards, I was €30 poorer and in posession of My Nail Polish Storage Unit! I put it together yesterday and had heart failure when I opened up the box to see eleventy million pieces there mocking me. But an hour or so later, it was done. It comes with wheels but I didn't attach them.
Then came the fun part. The organisation part. The part where I saw that I am actually mad with the number of polishes I have but I love them all! I'm sure I'll play around with how I want them organised and I would actually like separators or dividers for the drawers, but that's another day's job. So I thought I'd show you inside each drawer a bit and you can see how I organised each of the six drawers, top to bottom. As I was doing this, I realised that there were some shades missing and I'm sure I'll find them as I go through the pit that is the spare room.
Drawer 1 has all my China Glaze and OPI polishes. I didn't realise I had so many but I love China Glaze so much. Joanne won a load of OPI ones last year so that accounts for that.
Drawer 2 has my Color Club and Essence Snow White on the left, Avon in the middle and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicures on the right. I love that the names are on the lids!
Drawer 3 is my "affordable polishes" from Barry M, Maybelline, NYC, Catrice, Bourjois, Gosh, Rimmel, Revlon and ones I bought in Spain from the Supermarket.
Drawer 4 carries all of my mini polishes. I've some Essence ones on the left, mini OPIs in the middle and the Loreal ones too and on the right is all of my Sephora by OPI minis from sets I got a couple of years go. So cute! They're titchy and I felt they all had to be in the same drawer so as not to have size issues!
Drawer 5 has my "fancy schmancy" polishes and that means Leighton Denny, Zoya, Sephora by OPI, Model's Own, Orly, Essie, Butter London, Chanel and Ciate. It really does warm the cockles of my heart to have them all organised like this!
Drawer 6 has my accessories. Konad nail stamping bits, nail wheels for swatches, nail polish remover and whatever top coats or treatments I have.

Look mam, I helped! |

I may need 4 of 'em but I love how organised this is! Great idea, girls, keep them out of the sunshine and the heat. Must investigate.
ReplyDeleteThey're so good Sue, deffo check em out
DeleteThe jealousy. THE JEALOUSY! This is on my list for a long time, but considering that I'm in Dublin about once every million years, I'm going to have to look for alternatives. Polish is currently outgrowing the plastic thing I have them in and they're so squished up :( Love x
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of plastic things that I keep stuff in but I hate being able to see products through the plastic! I like it all neat and tidy, deffo check these out if you're up in the big schmoke
Deletegreat storage, i want one like that! :) and awwww your dog is such a cutie :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, he's a little monkey and a grand helper (not!)
DeleteDid it take bloody ages to put it together and also is it really hard? I bought one of these lil jobbies ages ago in Ikea but it remains in it's flat pack boz under the stairs to this day :(
ReplyDeleteNot at all! It took me just under an hour and that was half doing that and half watching the olympics. I was too lazy to put the wheels on but give it a shot missus and it's worth the effort
DeleteOoo I love it - Sile picked up drawer dividers in ikea too - I have one too and am not that organised
ReplyDeleteI saw she had those little dividers and I have them too for my make up storage but thought it'd take up too much space in little Helmer, I love him lots :)
DeleteSo bizarre. I was going to go to IKEA on that very same Sunday night to purchase a Helmer for my make up/nail polish collection!
ReplyDeleteLast minute, I decided to nip out to Carrickmines instead and picked up a similar enough thingy-majiggy (with eight drawers!) in Howard's Storage Solutions instead.
Monday morning was a therapeutic experience putting everything in a rightful place.
Great minds eh! Howard's Storage Solutions you say??? Oh I think I would be very happy in there altogether, am gonna have a google now!
