Sally Hansen Gem Crush nail polishes

You need these.

That was going to be the extent of my post about these absolutely stunning polishes but I couldn't stop just there!  First of all, look at them.... JUST LOOK AT THEM!

I haven't been this excited about nail polishes in a long time and I will kid you not, over the weekend, I found myself blogging in different locations in the house and I took them with me everywhere I went.  No word of a lie!  They're the most sparklicious, glittery bottles to arrive at Girlie Bits Towers and yes, you need them.

The new Gem Crush Nail Colour is the latest offering from Sally Hansen and let me just say they're completely different to any other glittery polishes I've ever tried.  And I've pretty much tried them all!  Whereas most glittery polishes have a base with glitter running through it, these guys are just glitter in a clear base.  And they're chockerblocked full of glitter.

We were given four to try and we couldn't wait to show them to you.  So on Saturday night whilst watching the X Factor, we got our bling on.  First up is Bling-Tastic.

Bling-Tastic is a clear base with vivid blue glitter with silver hexagonal glitters dotted throughout.  The formulation is on the thin side so I applied three coats and when the sun hits this, its magical.  The blue glitter jumps to life and sparkles like mad, but even without direct light, the blue glitter is simply stunning.

Big Money is up next and is a clear base with fine gold shimmer running through it and packed full of bigger lilac glitter.

This had a thicker formulation than Bling-Tastic and so two coats did me here.  I love that neither the gold or purple compete with each other.  Instead they work perfectly together and make me happy and we all like a happy Karen.  This one reminded me of the Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips and is so densely packed full of glitter.  Love it.

Time for Joanne's nails.  Lady Luck is a rich dark pink glitter polish with larger hologram glitters running through it.

This polishes dances in the sunlight thanks to the holographic glitter.  It's a stunner and I can't wait to try it out myself!  You can see in the photo below on the right that it's not as shiny as ususal.  This is because we had to put an extra coat right before taking the photos as Joanne managed to scuff her nails a bit.  But it shows that the polish, along with the rest of them, all dry almost matte.  You definitely need a top coat and I used my Sally Hansen 4 in 1 Complete Care.

Last but not least is Cha-Ching!  This beauty is a red glittery polish with larger silver glitter running through it. It's a different take on a traditional Christmas polish but it will be on our nails throughout the next few months no doubt!

Cha-Ching took two coats to be fully opaque and again, the photos don't do it justice.  The red glitter sparkles in the sunlight like nothing else and Joanne is in The Love with it.

And yes, we both have different polishes on each hand!  I don't want to take mine off so today as you read this, I'm sitting in work with blue glitter on my left hand and the gold one on my right.  I'm going to tell anyone who mentions it that it's very Autumn 2012 to do that and start a trend.  It's the only way I can enjoy these two shades to the max!

The Sally Hansen Gem Crush polishes are available in selected pharmacies, department and grocery stores nationwide now for €8.95.  There are eight shades and I think Joanne and I are going to have to complete the set!  The party season is coming up and we need glitter in our lives.  A quick point to note, you really do need a top coat with these guys and a couple of coats if it's a thin top coat.

So in summary.  You need these.

  5. Oh gosh I need them! I do!
The only reason why I do not wear glitters on my nails more often is because it's a right pain in the backside to remove (I only put a glitter accent nail on my last mani, and the pain of removing the polish on these two nails was enough to put me off glitter... until I can get my paws on those Sally Hansen, that is)

  6. Fabuloso!

Gals, have ye tried the Bourjois Little Magic Pot for glitter removal? (Pink Pot) Stick your pingy in for 60 seconds, twist & remove. Takes out all the effort of glitter removal and doesn't scratch the nails like scrubbing with regular remover can.
