Hourglass was founded in 2004 by Carisa Janes who created a range of makeup that has skin care benefits too. So makeup that helps minimize the signs of ageing? Sign me up! I met up with Mel Leonard, make up artist extraordinaire who was on hand to talk me through the products and you'll see some of the products in action in my post later today. This post will give you an overview of the range and rest assured, as I start to collect products from the brand, I'll be reviewing them properly!
Hourglass No 28 Primer Serum €60.48 , Veil Mineral Primer, Veil Fluid Make Up €57.40
So first up, let's talk face products. No 28 Primer Serum is named after the 28 ingredients it contains, ranging from essential oils to plant oils to vitamins. The Veil Mineral Primer is one of the products that Cassandra Bankson talked about and used in her stunning video where she shows how she covers up her acne. It's one of the lighter primers I've tried and doesn't ball on the face. We used the Veil Fluid make up which goes on the skin like silk, is suitable for all skin types and is water resistant.
I'm telling you, Mel demonstrated how water resistant the foundation and the cheek products below were and it was like she was doing magic. She was Paul Daniels and I was Debbie McGee. Except she didn't have a comb over and I wasn't in a leotard. She applied the products on the back of my hand, spritzed with water, dabbed with a tissue and nada. It stayed put! Speaking of cheek products, look at the Illume Bronze Duos below..... Don't they remind you of something? Maybe something from a Mr. Tom Ford? Except his version of this is €65 and you're saving €20 as Hourglass' offering is €46.13. You'll get to see the duo on the left, the creamy bronzer and blush in action in the post later today.
Hourglass Illume Bronze Duos €46.13
Eyeshadows next. I fell in love with the packaging of the Visionaire Eyeshadow Duos . They've a mirror that swivels around as do the cheek duos. They can be worn wet or dry and I urge you to go to the counter in Harvey Nichols and just touch these shadows. I defy you not to fall in love with the silkiest formulation I've ever felt with an eyeshadow. Gorgeous. I think I'm going to be collecting these before long!
Hourglass Visionaire Eyeshadow Duos €32.80
As if the shadows weren't enough to get me all giddy, this little fella sent me over the edge! The Script Precision Liner has one of the daintiest micro-fine felt tip applicators and is absolutely perfect for someone like me. I've hooded eyes and like to line them but find that I can make the line too thick and then all you can see when I open my eyes is liner. I like to show off the shadow! I'm totally getting one of these very soon so stay tuned. A fine line with no dragging or pulling of the lid? Sure go on.

At this point I was beside myself with happiness and it was probably good I was alone with Mel as I just kept saying "I love make up" over and over...
Hands up who finds it hard applying false lashes? *Raises hand* Ok, hands down. Now hands up who is mortally fearful of applying said lashes, then going out for a boogie, only to look at herself in the mirror during the night, thinking she's looking gorgeous, but finds a one eyelashed lunatic is staring back at her? *Raises both hands* The Film Noir Lash Lacquer was made for ladies like us. I have one of these and will be reviewing it shortly, but basically you apply your regular mascara, then paint this on your lashes and it gives you thick, full, blackest black false looking lashes. Amazing!
Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer €28.70
Time for lips. I've been lusting over the Femme Rouge lipsticks pictured on the left below and get this, you can buy refills and save a few bob! More brands should do this. On the right we have the Extreme Sheen glosses and these are pure gorgeousness (it's a word). They've vitamin E to help protect your lips and are super shiny, moisturising and pigmented.

Ever since I saw the Extreme Sheen Gloss in the shade Siren on Temptalia, I was obsessed. I'm totally getting one of them in New York and think it'll be perfect for Christmas with it's metallic finish! Below is a badly lit swatch of Siren on the top and a beautiful nude shade Truth underneath.

If you're a girl who likes stains with a bit of oomph to them, then you need to check out the Aura Sheer Lip Stains. There are three shades and below is my favourite, Scarlet. This took ages to wash off the back of my hand so I can only imagine how long it'll last on the lips. It dries to a semi-matte finish and like the rest of the products, is packed full of good things.
Hourglass Aura Lip Stain - Scarlet €24.60
Last but not least is the Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipsticks, a full coverage liquid lipstick that promises 14 hours wear with a velvet matte finish. These are dinky, supremely pigmented and all I kept saying in my head the whole time was "Just yeah...."
Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipsticks €25.92
So like sands through the Hourglass, these are the days of our lives. Or the make up we should be wearing during the days of our lives.
Go check out the Hourglass counter at Harvey Nichols in Dundrum, then come back here and tell me I was right about everything! Gorgeous brand full of new, exciting products and this makes for a a very happy beauty junkie!
