So I've decided to make 2013 The Year Of The Hair. Last year I focused on getting my skincare routine ship shape so I'll be trying out a lot of hair products this year and we'll see if I end up with healthy hair by the end of it all! I want long, healthy, swishy, glossy, shiny, sleek, voluminous locks. Not asking for much am I?
Here are some products I've been using over recently and loving.
La Roche Posay Kerium Extra Gentle shampoo €10.50 |
Kerium lathers beautifully and is really gentle on my scalp. It doesn't leave my scalp dry or tight and after using it consistently for a couple of weeks, I can see my hairline starting to go back to normal so I'll keep working my way through the bottle and see how I get on. I'm about halfway through it and know I'll be repurchasing it as it helps keep my scalp in check.
Kerastase Initialiste €48 |
Next up is Kerastase Initialiste, an advanced scalp and hair concentrate that contains plant stems cells. It works on the root and length of the hair and creates an environment to encourage the hair follicle to produce gorgeous hair. Don't mind if I do! I love trying out new products like this and I've fallen in love with it. I use this three times a week and use about three pumps worth as my hair is so thick and long. I'm prone to greasy hair and don't like applying products to the my roots, but thanks to the lightweight non greasy texture of the serum, I can apply directly to my scalp without the worry that I'll be a big grease ball.
Since starting to use it, my hair has felt stronger, more silky and super smooth. It's definitely given me more glossy locks and I've loved using this. It is spendy but I've found with Kerastase, you get what you pay for.
Ojon Total Detox Rub-Out Dry Cleaning Spray €20 |
Finally is the Rolls Royce of dry shampoos. Well, for my budget anyway. For ages now I've only been using Batiste on my hair on days where I am uber lazy and don't want to wash my hair. Because of greasy roots and need to wash my mane every day but have been trying to cut down on that in an attempt to see if it will help my scalp and hair. The Ojon Total Detox Rub-Out Dry Cleaning Spray knocks Batiste out of the water in my opinion.
It has a light earthy smell that reminds me of something from Jo Malone. It contains the famous Ojon oil along with purifying Soap Bark Tree extract and it promises to clean and revive one's hair in minutes. I use it on days where I'll be wearing my hair up and there's nothing worse than a greasy ponytail. I put my hair up in a ponytail or bun, then spray it all over the top and sides of my head and go about my business. Before I head out the door, I take down my hair and work the product into my hair before brushing it and putting it back up again. It doesn't leave any white residue on my hair once I brush it properly and I'm left with clean looking hair. Looking like a big greaseball isn't a good look.
So those are the new products I've been testing and enjoying recently. Have no doubt that The Year Of The Hair series will continue for the next 11 months and I'll try all the products out there and sure it's a reason to go shopping now isn't it?
What's your haircare hero? Share the love!
Also, aren't you proud of me that I didn't call this post Lovely Hairy Girlie Bits? I'm all profesh today!
Really interested in the three of these! I love Batiste too but of course I'm always interested in knowing if it can be improved upon! I started using Orofluido ages ago based on your good reviews and it has absolutely transformed my hair!
ReplyDeleteI suffer with my scalp too and find that I get a lot of sores and dry patches in the winter. I put it down to hotter showers but also central heating. The skin on our face gets moisturiser but our scalps just get harsh cleansing treatments so it seems to stand to reason that they would dry out!
Im excited about your The Year Of The Hair series. I love learning about new hair products and how they work for different people.
ReplyDeleteI have rediscovered Kerastase a few months ago, and I love it! I'm really enjoying the shampoo I'm currently using, but unfortunately my scalp has been playing up and I lose even more hair than usual... So I've just ordered a hair loss prevention shampoo from Kerastase. I'm excited to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, how do you find the LRP shampoo works for greasy hair? I get similar scalp problems this time of year but a lot of shampoos don't seem to work on grease and my hair still ends up looking greasy after its washed!
ReplyDeleteHello Ms.Karen. Are you still using Kerastase Nuritive Irisome Bain Satin 2 (what a mouthful !! ) ? I'd love to try it. I'm currently using Bain Elixir Ultime. And the Initialiste...hmmm... I've been using it for almost a year. I too have thick hair and use this once a week. Thank you.
