I wanted to try something Valentine-y this weekend and this is what I came up with. All you need is your dotting tool, a white nail polish and a red polish and that's it. If you want to place your products in a bundle of plastic hearts you picked up in Dealz, then have at it.
I didn't have a white polish in my stash so picked this one up from Color Club in the chemist beside work, called French Tip. This was €6 and I was surprised that it was fully opaque with two coats as white polishes can be a pain in the hoop when it comes to streaks. Delighted with this purchase so I am!
Now, let me show you the method I used for making my little love hearts. And yes, I do hold my breath when I'm doing this on the nails. I was ready to faint at the end of the whole thing but it was totally worth it. Anyways, I apply a blob of polish onto a piece of paper. Then using my dotting tool, I put a little dot of polish wherever I want the heart to be. Holding my breath, I apply another dot beside the first dot, letting them overlap a little bit as if one is making a Venn Diagram. I breathe for a little second, then get a tiny bit more polish and holding my breath again, I pull the polish down into a little point, creating the bottom of the heart.
Repeat this method as many times as your lungs will allow and before you pass out. You'll be purple but you'll have nails like these!
This really is an easy little bit of nail art and if you don't want all of your nails looking like a deck of cards, then feel free to paint them all red and maybe do this on an accent nail. The nice thing about the Essence dotting tool is that there's a larger end and a smaller end, so you can make differently sized love hearts. If you go wrong, it's no biggie, just use the smaller end to correct your mistake.
adorable :) I ordered some dotting tools today so can't wait until I can have a go at this!
