As you may or may not know, I've made 2013, The Year Of The Hair and I'm trying lots of new products in an attempt to have gorgeous hair.
Last week I decided I needed to try the Tangle Teezer to see if it was really as good as everyone said. So a quick Twitter call for help told me that Boots stocks them for around the €15-€16 mark. A little steep I thought but I waited for a day where it wasn't lashing so I could pop into town for a look. However, one of the days found me in the chemist beside work on the way to my car and what do you know, they had them in there and even better, they were only €10.50! So I love local chemists for bargains like this!
I decided I wanted a pink one so I got this one and won't worry about losing it as you can see it from space it's that bright.

It fits perfectly in the palm of my hand and as I use it on my hair, I do feel like I'm grooming a horse! I know this might sound weird but I love getting my hair brush or my head scratched and the Tangle Teezer gives my scalp a lovely scratch without scraping the living daylights out of it.
I was going to buy a wide toothed comb as I don't own one and thought it would be grand for combing conditioner through my hair in the shower. After trying the Tangle Teezer in the shower last week, all notions of a comb were flung out the window! It glided through my hair like buttah! It was amazing. Using it on damp and dry hair is equally as impressive and after I used it for the very first time, I went downstairs to Joanne and made her pause what she was watching on the telly to try it.
Now of course, you know me, I had to pick up one of the Tangle Teezer inspired brushes from Penneys over the weekend to see how it compared. At €1.50, it's a fraction of the price. I picked up the little love heart shape for the craic. It has a little handle on the top that you can either slip between your fingers if you're holding it flat in the palm of your hands or you can hold onto the handle to brush through your hair.
The brush is also packed full of long and short bristles like the Tangle Teezer but they're much thicker and less flexible. I knew after the first use that it wasn't for me. It didn't feel as nice on my scalp or brush through my hair as easily as the original.
I really wanted to love this and I was hoping to keep this one in the shower for conditioner but alas it wasn't meant to be.
Now don't worry, the love heart isn't going to waste. There's a little someone in the house who absolutely loves it and I've already used it twice on him.
Bailey loves it so much! He's so fluffy and I tell ya, it goes through his fur so easily. I find the hair on his hind legs gets matted first and he hates when I go near him with a brush, however he was happy as Larry to be groomed with his own tangle teezer! That photo above was a cinch to take because he was standing on Joanne for ages, loving getting his hair did!
So lads, tell me if you've tried the original Tangle Teezer! I can't recommend it enough. My hair looks and feels fantastic and it's totally worth the tenner. Obsessed with it and if you'd seen my hair last week compared to this week, the change in how it looks is immense. Sleek, shiny, healthy, tangle free hair!
One of my favorite products ever.

I'm a recent convert to the tangle teezer too - how cute does Bailey look?!
ReplyDeleteBailey is in a constant state of fluff now, he loves it!

My hair is quite fine tho and rarely have tangle problems on dry hair
Ooh interesting, I wonder how it compares to the Tangle Teezer
DeleteOh wow, what chemist did you get it in for a tenner??
ReplyDeleteThe one in the Merrion Centre on Nutley Lane, I can't remember the name of it! Am rubbish!
DeleteI love it. I have the compact travel size but I'm thinking of investing in the big one!
ReplyDeleteI saw the compact one in Boots but it was so expensive, €16 something. If I see it cheaper I'll definitely pick one up
DeleteLove my tangle teezer so much! Boots are so dear for them!!
ReplyDeleteDeffo too dear, saved a fiver!
DeleteGood that someone got use of the penneys one!
ReplyDeleteI know! All I have to do is pick it up and he comes running over to me and lies down! Little maggot!
DeleteI got one for Christmas as a gift, absolutely love it! Dont know how i lived without it! Id tried one from penny's too and was disappointed!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same, I love it so much and don't know how I lived without it for so long!
DeleteI absolutely love the Tangle Teezer (I have the smaller leopard print one) and now only use my normal sized paddle brush for when I'm blow drying my hair which is rare!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm, I guess is my turn to try it. ;) I hope I will find the same bargain somewhere on North side. :)

Great review!!! It's great if you have super long long hair, but if you have short-medium hair I think a standard brush will do! http://williamspromakeup.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/tangle-teezer-hair-brush-review-worth.html
ReplyDeleteIt is supposed to be very good for back combing, could you test for that please?
