I'm baaaaack! The pit of my week and the peak of my week - week 12

So I'm back from a lovely week in Spain with Lovely Mammy Bits and let me tell you that the week flew!  I left the blog in the very capable hands of Orla, Laura and Yasmine who wrote some fantastic guest posts, so thank you ladies for taking the pressure off me for the week!  I didn't do any blogging and took the week off completely.

So the pit of my week, well, there are two really.  The first is having to leave sunny Spain and come back to the cold weather!  We got wifi installed in our place in Alicante so I was able to keep up to date on Twitter where everyone in my timeline was suffering through the awful weather and now I am too, boo hoo.  I loathe Alicante airport with every fibre of my being.  Every time I'm there, it's so hot and uncomfortable and Saturday night was no exception.  They must have had the heat on high and I couldn't wait to get onto the plane and have a bit of air conditioning to cool down my purple face.  Well, on the plane we got and I kid you not, every single person in the few rows in front of and behind us coughed, spluttered, hocked up phlegm and I couldn't wait to get off and into fresh air, even if it was freezing!  It was one of the grossest flight ever.  Vom.

The second pit of the week is bittersweet really.  After living together for the last 10 years (bloody hell!), Joanne moved out and into a gorgeous apartment with her boyfriend Will.  I'm delighted for them and can't wait for them to drive each other mad (just kidding!) I've never lived on my own and although I'm looking forward to it and rearranging things, along with taking over Joanne's wardrobes, it's going to be weird and as I said on Twitter yesterday, it's the end of an era and the start of a new one.  I can now do my cleaning in my nudies!

The peak of my week?  Well I think I'll let the photos do the talking....

We have a lemon and orange tree in the front garden and this year we had the most lemons I've ever seen on the little tree!  I made a salad dressing one of the days and it was gorgeous.  The lemons were acidic but also slightly sweet and you can't get any fresher than that!  I had to get the camera out and snap some shots.  As for the orange tree, we had three oranges which we scoffed on the first couple of days.  The tree was full of orange blossoms which were so fragrant and I'd never seen that many flowers on the tree before.  It perfumed the whole garden and now I know what orange blossoms smell like on their own which will totally help moi with my perfume descriptions.  Always the blogger eh?

Orange blossoms
I love walking along the promenade in Santa Pola and it was very strange seeing the beach empty.  It's much too cold for the Spaniards at this time of year, all of whom were walking around with winter coats on while mam and I were in our tshirts.  I know.  It was so weird seeing them all with lots of clothes on!

We were to a couple of the local markets as usual and I may have picked up one or two scarves... More on that later in the week... I don't feel too bad about the sheer volume I bought because I wear them every single day and they're my thing.  Enough justification there? ahem

Market
I didn't take any photos of the lovely meals we had there except for my tapas.  Nom.

In the market on Saturday, we saw a few stalls that were rocking some very intricate decorations for Palm Sunday.  Purty.

The market comes alive on Saturdays and is full of fruit and vegetable stalls.  If we're there for a couple of weeks, we get our food there and I'm raging we saw the strawberries below on the day were leaving!

I think I'll be taking it easy on the blog this week with one post a day while I get used to living on my tobler and get organised!  I mentioned it before but I'm hoping to turn the box room into my beauty room and I'm making that my focus as I've got some great plans in the works and need to sort stuff out and get rid of a lot of unneeded and used bits before I secure a starring role on that Hoarders program.

So how was your week?  What was the pit and the peak of your week?

  3. Gorgeous photos! Looks like a fabulous trip!! Aw, Joanne moved out. I hear you on it being bittersweet. I lived with one of my BFF's for a few years and it was weird when she moved away and I loved into a house with my now husband.
