Marks and Spencer Spring Summer 2013

Last week I bundled myself up into my big puffy winter coat and went to see what Marks and Spencer has in stores now for Spring Summer 2013.  I'll be totally honest with you.  Up until last year or so, I didn't really shop there as I felt it was more suitable for the mammy, but I'll hold my hands up and say that I saw so many pieces that I could see myself in and left there with a grand wish list!

There are five key trends for this season including Mono Pop, Dolls House, Print Fusion, Urban Utility and Modern Luxe.  So something for everyone really.

Mono Pop

I love the monochrome trend and Mono Pop has some gorgeous pieces, my favourite being this leather jacket on the bottom right.  We had a little moment and I could see this on Joanne and of course when we were in town over the weekend, we had to visit it.  And stroke it.  Mam is very into her little jackets at the moment and loved the round necked black and white jacket above with the four pockets on the front.

Dolls House

Dolls House featured pretty, feminine pieces alongside this snakeskin blazer which I also had a little moment with.  There's a dress and trousers with the snakeskin pattern too but might be a little much all together!  The colours in this section were muted, understated and perfect for this time of year and the pieces had delicate detailing, lace and made me feel very ladylike altogether as I perused the clothes in my massive coat.

Print Fusion

If you're someone who loves prints, patterns and textures, then the Print Fusion is right up your street.  It's full of vibrant colours and if prints scare you a bit, then check out that green ruffled dress that makes me want to go to a garden party and drink Pimms!

Modern Luxe

Modern Luxe is all about tailoring and I spent a little too much time stroking that red blazer.  And don't even get me started on the black coat?  Simple, clean lines are what this trend is all about and every single piece was so wearable.

Urban Utility

As soon as I clapped eyes on the Urban Utility pieces, I knew Joanne would love it.  She's very into her khaki colours, and that jacket would suit her perfectly.  You know I love me some scarves, so of course this one caught my eye instantly.  I'm telling you, if you want to take inspiration from trends but aren't sure about wearing a dress or coat, then a scarf is a great way to dip your toe into a trend!

Accessories

I had to show you the cutest flats ever!  Colour, patterns, bows and I love them all!  And those sunglasses?  Yeah, they're going to be mine...

Everything is in Marks and Spencer stores now and I know this because I visited my favourite pieces over the weekend to say hi.

  2. Ohh wonder how much their cute flats are, I might have to invest in a pair. I'm sure they'd be a better investment than Pennys. x
