Sunshine on your nails! Three yellow polishes from Essence, NYC and Bourjois

A couple of years ago when I first head rumblings of the yellow nail polish trend, I was muchly dubious.  Sure wouldn't they give me smoker's nails without the smoke?  And my suspicion was confirmed when I plonked on a couple of layers of an OPI polish that came in a mini set I had and have forced the name out of my mind due to the trauma of looking at my poor decrepit looking nails.

Mercifully the nail polish folks have copped on and have created some bright, pigmented and sunshine-y shades that will brighten up our days until summer arrives.  If it ever arrives.

I've three new additions to my nail polish collection that are all under a tenner and I'm a firm believer that for trends like this, you shouldn't spend more than that for something you won't be wearing throughout the whole year.  If you want to spend big on a polish, then let it be for shades you'll get lots of wear out of over the whole 12 months and you can justify your purchase that way!

First up is one of Essence's completely budget friendly offerings, shade 137 I wanna be your sunshine.  This bright shade has some faint yellowy goldy shimmer in it that's more obvious in the bottle than on the nails, but it's a stunner and at €1.79, you can't go wrong.

Next is NYC's Lexington Yellow is a creamy yellow shade that transports me to New York instantly where I'm trying to hail a yellow cab and in my little fantasy, I'm able to wolf whistle and a cab screeches to a stop in front of me.  I know.  The damage for this one is also €1.79 and it would be an actual sin not to check it out.

Finally is Sunny Sunday, one of the new shades from Bourjois' Sixties Remix spring line that also has shimmer running through it, but this shade looks slightly warmer on the nails compared to the other two.  This makes me think of sunny evenings when I have heat in my bones from sitting outside all day sunning myself and find myself a bit parched, so need to decide on a beverage that will compliment my nail polish.  This one is €7.99 so a bit more expensive than the other two, but still within budget.

I can't wait for warmer weather, sunny days and blue skies to rock this trend!
