Be sun smart with La Roche-Posay, Vichy and Pixy! Oh and my accompanying video!

What a cracker of a week sunshine wise eh?!  I'm sure as you bussed it or trained it to work today, you saw lots of people who'd burned the living daylights out of their skin and for what?  For it to hurt like a mofo for a couple of days and then be a slightly less blue version of themselves?!

Over the weekend I uploaded a video on what to expect when you need to have your skin examined by a doctor.  Why did I need to tell you that?  Well you'll see when you watch the video and I'm saving you a lot of embarrassment!  I also decided to increase the embarrassment intensity and show you a little routine which explains how to check your skin yourself for moles and any other changes.  So click the video below to watch and (hopefully) laugh!

I mentioned some products at the end of the video and wanted to give you a bit more detail on them so you have no excuses!  I don't want to hear anyone telling me they got burnt in the future!

Who remembers the days of tanning oils when you'd see people slathering it on and if it was quiet enough, you could hear them actually sizzling in the heat?  Well that's what I thought of when I read about La Roche-Posay's Anthelios XL Invisible Nutritive Oil SPF50+ (€22.00).  Thankfully, this is nowt like the tanning oils of yore, but is a protective and nourishing oil that provides both UVA and UVB protection.  This got a lot of use over the weekend and I've converted Joanne, mam, and my pals Eileen and Caroline to it.  It's lightweight, feels gorgeous on the skin, has a lovely light scent to it and works!  None of us got burnt this weekend!  Also in the Anthelios XL range is the Extreme Fluid (€19.50) and the Tinted Cream (€17.75).  Both SPF50+ and with UVA and UVB protection, these guys work great on the visage, the tinted version giving a smidge of colour if you don't like going bare faced in the sun.

Vichy also have fantastic products for summer days and I've blogged about both of these guys.  I can't explain to you how much I love the Capital Soleil Mattifying face fluid dry touch (€14.50).  I've been wearing this under makeup and on it's own and know I'll be purchasing it myself when I run out.  You can read the full review here so I'm not repeating myself too much!  Vichy's Beautifying Sun Compact (€19.50) is new on the market and this cream foundation with SPF30 gives the most flawless finish ever.  It's gowjus and you can read about it here so you can.

If you're looking not unlike a lobster, or just want to soothe your skin a little bit, then La Roche-Posay's Thermal Spring Water (€9.00) is The Business in the summer.  You can spritz it on your face to set your make up, spritz it to cool down your skin, or spritz it just because you want to.  Leave it in the fridge for extra cooly-ness.  Also from La Roche-Posay is Cicaplast Baume B5 (€7.50/40ml).  Yes, I know, I'm talking about it again.  But that's because it works!  It helps soothe burns of all kinds and works great as an overnight mask.  You should have this.  Finally we have Pixy's Aloe Rescue Gel (€7.95).  This has antiseptic tea tree essential oil and calming lavender essential oil to calm and soothe one's skin after sun exposure.  Mam swears by aloe vera for burns and has already told me she's taking this off me next time she's over.  Think I can hide it?  Maybe I should put it in the fridge along with the thermal water?

So these are the products that I'm using this summer and let's all take a little moment and pray that we get more nice weather.  Everyone's in much better form and life is better when it's sunny!

I hope you enjoy the video and if you've any sun protection tips and tricks, leave them in the comments below!

Your blog is important; the issue is something that not enough people are talking intelligently about. Im really happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this issue.
