Bourjois Shine Edition lipsticks, 1, 2, 3, Soleil, Famous Fuchsia and Grenade In, photos, swatches

Do you ever just look at a product for the first time and know you're going to love it?  The packaging sucks you in at first.  Then that first look at the product inside starts off a little smile on your face.  You swatch it on the back of your hand and utter an "Oooh", the likes of which will make people wonder what you're doing over there.  By the time you're ready to apply it to your face, you're ready to collapse from giddiness because you know, you just know it's as amazing as you thought it was going to be.

This is pretty much what happened with the new Bourjois Shine Editions.  Oh sweet Mary Jane they're good.  When I met up with the brand a couple of weeks ago and caught sight of the six Shine Edition shades due out in August, I couldn't wait to get stuck into them.  I was given three to play with and I think it's safe to say they're the three I would have picked out myself, especially if a certain 3 for 2 offer was going on.

They're pigmented, glossy, so comfortable to wear on the lips and exactly my type of product for the summer.  With 1/4 lacquered pigments and 1/4 gloss extract, it feels like you're wearing a lip balm, except it's got lots of pigmentation.

From left to right we have shade 20, called 1, 2, 3 Soleil and it's me in lipstick form.  It's a beautiful coral shade that I can't stop wearing and makes me smile every time I put it on.  Shade 22, Famous fuchsia is a blue toned fuchsia pink and is a lot brighter in my arm swatch than on the lips as you'll see below.  It's a fabulous shade for summer and is very wearable altogether.  Shade 23, Grenade in is described as a pomegranate red but leans more raspberry on me, if we're talking berries.  For me, this is an evening shade and with a slick of mascara, I'd be good to go.  Out of the three, it's the shade I'd be able to get a lot of wear out of over the colder months, but we won't talk about that yet.

All three shades apply easily and feel lightweight on the lips.  The gloss is the first thing to fade after a couple of hours, leaving behind a light stain.  So you can either top it up with more lippie, or a lip balm.  Want to see what it looks like on my visage?

The Bourjois Shine Edition lipsticks will be out in August, but chances are you might see them a bit earlier in Boots.  They're going to be €10.99 and I predict that you're going to love them like I do!
