John Frieda Luxurious Volume Range review & video!

As much as I like having sleek straight hair, there's nowt like a bit of volume that makes me feel like I'm in a hair ad.  I like having a bit of oomph in my tresses, but draw the line at having Dynasty-esque volume.  So when I heard John Frieda's new and improved Luxurious Volume collection was out, I couldn't wait to give them a go.

The John Frieda Luxurious Volume collection promises to give naturally soft, voluminous hair that anyone can achieve on a daily basis.  This pleases me to hear.  Those with fine hair usually struggle with volume, but that doesn't mean those of us with thicker hair can't use the products.  Not on your nelly.  We can all have volume!  We were given these products to play with at the launch a few weeks ago, and play with them we have, as you'll see below.

The Touchably Full shampoo and conditioner are gentle on the hair, doing a great job of cleaning without stripping.  I've used these on their own without adding any other products afterwards and am always left with swishy, swooshy hair that looks and feels soft and healthy.

The Blow Dry Lotion Root Booster does exactly that.  Boosts your roots.  It's time to boost, roots, aboot this hoose.  Now that song's in your head and you're welcome.  The idea is to spray this onto your roots, then use the heat from your hair dryer to activate it, giving you lift without looking like Cameron Diaz from There's Something About Mary.  As you'll see below, it definitely worked!  I'm not sure if we used too much of it in our demonstration, as we were able to feel the product in our hair. It didn't feel sticky or anything, I could just feel product and as hair styling novices, we weren't used to that.  But it worked on our thicker hair, so those with fine hair will be absolutely sorted.

When Jake Davis, Senior Stylist for John Frieda applied the Volume Refresh Dry Shampoo on the model's hair at the launch, it didn't look like it had that white residue on her hair.  But it did on mine.  Maybe I went wild on my greasy barnet.  However, as dry shampoos go, it's amazing and absorbed the oils in my hair effortlessly, leaving me with hair that looked clean, not matte and grotty!  On days where I feel like I need a little bit of oomph in my hair, I spray a bit of the dry shampoo on and it gives my hair a bit of texture in all of two seconds.

Finally is the Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray.  This is my favourite product of the whole collection and I've already finished my mini bottle.  But I'll definitely be picking up a full size version the next time I allow myself in Boots.  Like the Root Booster, the Blow-Out Spray is heat activated.  You spray your hair all over with it and I like to dry my hair upside down every day as it is, so didn't need to be told twice when using this.  What you're left with is body and volume from root to tip but without the feeling of product in your hair.  This makes Karen very happy.

Now, it's all very well me telling you about the product, but we thought it'd be an idea to show them in action.  So yes, we did a video with grottbags hair, that then turned into wet hair, that then turned into voluminous hair!  Have a look at the completely scientific video *ahem* and hopefully it'll give you more of an insight into the products!  Oh and make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel for more videos!

The Luxurious Volume Range is in shops now and each product retails for €6.31.  Have you tried anything from the range yet?  Let us know in the comments!
