Berry nice! Four berry lip colours for autumn from Clarins, Mac, YSL & Smashbox

It's official.  I love autumn and all the make up that goes with it.  From August onwards, I embrace deep burgundy, copper, burnished gold and all the traditional autumnal shades that are synonymous with this time of year.  Those shades work beautifully with my eye colour and I'm generally quite adventurous in the eye make up department.

However, when it comes to autumnal lips, I get scared.  I'm finally on track with bright summer lips but it took me a while to get there!  But I want to embrace the berry stained lips that catapults us into autumn.  So I've picked four lipsticks in my collection that will help me get over my fear of the darker lip.

Clarins Royal Plum is one of the Joli Rouge lipsticks from the Graphic Expression autumn 2013 collection and is a dark dusty pink lipstick with brown undertones.  It contains mango butter which helps nourish and protect the lips from dehydration and feels really comfortable on.  This is the most neutral of the four I've picked and I could see myself wearing this on a day to day basis.

Clarins Royal Plum €21.00
I've had Mac's Rebel lipstick in my stash for ages and do like to wear it around the house.  I'm too scared to wear it outside but I'm making a promise to wear it to something soon as it's too beautiful.  It's a gorgeous deep fuchsia shade with purple undertones that's a proper statement lipstick if ever I saw one.  Gowjus!  I do need to line the lips when I wear this though and my liner of choice is Currant by Mac which matches Rebel perfectly.

Mac Rebel €19.00
I bought YSL's Volupte Sheer Candy in No 5 Mouthwatering Berry last year in New York.  This gives a sheer wash of colour on the lips with lots of shine and was my go to shade over the winter months last year.  It feels moisturising on the lips, smells really fruity and will be in heavy rotation for the foreseeable future!

YSL Volupte Sheer Candy Mouthwatering Berry €30.00
Out of the two lipsticks from Smashbox's Fade to Black collection, Black Cherry captured my heart much to my surprise.  It looks super dark in the bullet, but once on, it's a stunning, very wearable berry stained lip colour.  I think it's slightly more wearable than Rebel and I can see me getting a lot of use out of it over the coming months.

Smashbox Black Cherry €19.00
So those are my four picks for autumnal I-just-ate-a-berry-out-of-the-garden lips!
