It's not often I give a nail polish the "headline" spot on the blog; the Monday Morning Slot. But Barry M's Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in the shade Blue Grape is something special. See?
I picked this up a couple of weeks ago on a nail polish spending spree and it was instant lurve. I think it's the only time I've ever walked up to a stand, picked up a polish without a second thought, plopped it in my basket and carried on. Usually I stand there trying to justify the purchase, but it was a no brainer.
Blue Grape is a royal blue polish that knocks any other blue polish I own out of the water. Two coats give a statement nail like nowt else. I'd recommend using a base coat as blue polishes have a tendency to stain one's nails and one doesn't want to look like one is oxygen deprived when one removes the polish.
Like all the other shades I've tried in this range, Blue Grape dries to a high gloss shine, the like I've only seen when I use Seche Vite. The only negative thing I have to say is that the brush isn't great. I'm so used to wide brushes that hug my nails as I apply the polish but this one feels cheap. The bristles splay out at the tip and make it difficult to get it nice and neat at the base of the nail. But I made it work anyway!
Barry M knows what he's doing with these Gelly Hi Shine polishes and I'm amassing quite the collection of them. I love each one more than the last and look forward to the new autumn shades. They're €4.59 and worth every penny!
Have you tried the Gelly Hi-Shine polishes from Barry M? Which one is your favourite?
