Maybelline Color Show Brocades - Knitted Gold review

Despite having a bajillion nail polishes, don't worry, I've counted them, it still doesn't stop me from picking up more on my travels.  And when I say travels, I mean visits to Boots.  It takes a lot for me to pick up a polish willy nilly and generally the ones I buy myself are interesting, different shades, none of which I have in my collection.  That's my justification in any case.

So over the weekend, whilst checking out the special offers in Boots and needing to find that third thing to make the 3 for 2 purchase justified, found myself at the Maybelline counter.  Being a fan of the Color Show nail polishes, I saw this one and gasped, swooned and did other such weird things that only a polish junkie like myself would understand.

Knitted Gold is part of the Brocades collection.  I'll find out more about the collection but for now, feast your eyes on the most beautiful shade from the collection in my humble, glitter polish loving opinion.

Knitted Gold has a clear base, not that you'd notice because it's jam packed with really fine yellow gold shimmer.  I'm not 100% because the shimmer is so fine, but I think it's duochrome, switching between gold and pink depending on how the light hits your nails.  Then, if that wasn't enough, there are two sets of pink glitter pieces running through it, one tiny and one bigger and hexagonal.

It's rose gold nail polish at it's brightest and most interesting, but is a new take on the traditional rose gold polish.  One coat gives a light glimmery finish and would make a nice topcoat over a nudie polish.  Two to three coats is blindingly gold, in your face and me all over!

Coming up to the holiday season, it's important to have a solid army of glitter polishes because 'twill be the season to get your bling on and if you're nervous about applying glitter to your eyes, then nails are the way to go my friend.

If you see this shade, snap it up folks because it's a beaut and at €5.95, it's a steal.
