Clarins Opalescence Spring 2014 first look - photos, swatches

Ooh Clarins have hit the nail on head with their Spring 2014 collection entitled Opalescence.  When I think of spring makeup, I always think of bright, radiant skin, flushed cheeks, romantic eyes, glossy lips and Clarins tick all of the boxes here.

I've some of the collection to show you but come it's counter launch on January 20th, you need to go and see it all in person because it's beautiful.  It'll get you all excited that Spring is around the corner, the days will be getting brighter and the weather will be milder!

Look at it.  Don't you want to just put it all on your face?

The Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in Vibrant Light (€41) mixes plum with soft pink and a stone grey shade, which sounds like it could be too dark for spring, but teamed with that soft pearly white shade on the inner corner, you've a versatile palette that can work during the day and at night.  The shadows can be used wet and dry, depending on how dramatic you want to take it.  And I'm always of the opinion that more is more!

There's a new shade in the Mineral Eyeshadow range, Smoky Plum (€19) and it's an absolute beaut because it's one of those shades that'll end up on your go to list.  It's a mix of plum and brown with gold shimmer that works as a wash of colour over the lids or can be used to define a smoky eye and add more drama.  I can feel it in my tubes that this is going to be a staple for me.

If there's one thing that immediately makes me sit up and take notice, it's a cream blush.  There are 4 cream blushes in the Opalescence collection of varying hues of corals and pinks.  You know me and my corals!  I've got the shade Candy to show you and at €22, I'll be picking up Peach and possibly Grenadine because at the launch, it took every bit of self restraint not to hold the little compact up to my cheek and start applying it directly to my face, no fingers or brushes involved.  But I was good and just gave them all loving, longing looks and whispered "You'll be mine soon my pretties".  I know.  Scarlet for me.  But these cream to powder blushes do this to me.  They make me look like I've got a soft, pretty glow to my cheeks and who doesn't want that?  You can also use them on the lips to give a soft, velvety finish if you're so inclined.

Now lads.  If I was a lipstick, I would be Coral Tulip (€21).  Of the three shades in the Opalescence collection, this one is me in lipstick form.  It is absolute perfection in my book and I am obsessed.  It's only the 11th of January as I'm writing this but I'm telling you, it's going to take something really special to knock this into second place on the Favourite Lipstick stand, but it is, it really is my favourite shade ever in the history of a lipstick.  It's coral, it's creamy, it's glossy, it's moisturising, it's pigmented and did I mention it's coral?  Spending ban be damned, I'll be buying back ups of this shade because I'll be wearing this during spring and summer and if you have lips, you need this.  The End.  I'm now going to have to apply more, back in a second.

Is it just me or in spring do you want to be all healthy and glowy looking?  I want to be one of those people who look like they've got effortlessly radiant skin, but alas, I do not, so I've to rely on makeup.  There are three Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Bases (€30) in Champagne which corrects redness in fair complexions, Peach which revives the radiance of tanned skin and the one I have, Rose, gives maximum radiance to all skin tones.  I like things that give me maximum anything.  You can use these on their own to give radiance to your skin if you're having a makeup free day, or apply it under or mixed in with your foundation to give you a grand natural looking glow.

On to the swatches.  I'll be using the products in an upcoming video so stay tuned for that, but this will whet your makeup whistle for now!

So tell me, do you see anything that you want to put on your face?  The Opalescence collection will be available nationwide from January 20th and if you go to buy Coral Tulip and there are none left, that was me.
