Michael Kors Nail Lacquers in Envy, Sensation and Scandal, photos, review, swatches

Let me just say that my friends, my family and I solely kept Michael Kors in business over Christmas!  After receiving Envy to try last month, I then got Sensation for my birthday from one of the girls at work, then got Scandal from Joanne for Christmas.  We got my brother's girlfriend Sensation for Christmas and they in turn got Joanne the same shade!  And finally, I got one as a thank you gift for a lovely lady who was very generous to me and deserved a Michael Kors shaped treat.

So basically I'm sorted for life for Michael Kors polishes.  Or until they bring out a new collection.  You guess which is true...

I need to start with the packaging.  It's gorgeous with it's heavyweight glass bottle and shiny gold lid that comes off to reveal a smaller, more aerodynamic cap that makes it easier to apply the polish.  Truth be told, it's good to be wearing soft clothing when handling these polishes as guaranteed, you'll be making sure to shine the lids up nicely to keep any paw prints off.

The formula of all three polishes are on the semi-sheer side and the photos below show two coats.  You wouldn't be able to get away with one coat, but sure I generally end up using at least two with most polishes anyway.  They glide on leaving a smooth, glossy finish, with no pulling or streaking.

If I'd one criticism, it'd be that I'd love a wider brush as personally, I find application much easier when one swipe covers the nail.  I seem to make more of a mess with smaller brushes, but that's just moi, not the most delicate of people.

On to the colours though.... Ooh I know I've shown Envy before but this was before I found out that the Pantone colour of next year is wild orchid which to the likes of you and me is a pinky toned bright purple.  This colour is a showstopper in my book and I believe I can say that I have nothing like it in my collection which is always a bonus for a polish freak like me!

Sensation is a bright, in your face, orangey red and is pure perfection.  I did Joanne's nails with this shade over Christmas and the result was faboooolis.  It just makes me happy to look at this shade and the orange undertones means that you can wear it in the summer easily where it's going to set off a tan beautifully.

Finally we have Scandal.  This fuchsia polish is packed full of what looks like silver shimmer in it, somehow making it look like it has a blue tinge to it.  Whereas Envy is fun and sensational is sexy, I think Sandal is the more sophisticated of the three shades and one I'll get a lot of wear out of all year round.

These nail lacquers are available to buy in Arnotts for €20 and are definitely my favourite high end polishes so far.  I've worn each of these since getting them and they last a good 4-5 days on me before I need to reapply.  I'm very hard on my nails because of work and rarely comment on the longevity of polishes because I generally change the colour every couple of days.  Not with these guys!  I've loved wearing them and can't wait to see what shades they bring out next.

Which is your favourite?  My nails are bare at the moment to give them a wee break from polish, but I can't decide which one to use, so vote below and make my decision for me!
