What's in my makeup bag #1

One of my missions in 2014 is to use up some of the ridiculous number of products I own in my makeup stash.  Because I chop and change what I'm using so much, I rarely finish up anything and as a buyer and tryer of products, have enough makeup to last a lifetime.  Yet I buy more!

I test out a lot of products and having a constant supply of new things to try out means I don't get to use up things that I already have.  My bloggy pal Mags and I are on a self imposed spending ban, not allowing ourselves to buy anything makeup or beauty related without consulting each other.  The purchasing of anything Stila doesn't count th

So over the course of the year, I'm going to shake up my makeup bag on a monthly basis, making sure I don't get stuck in a rut.  I'll still be trying lots of other things and will review them on the blog and in my monthly favourites videos as I'm a self confessed product junkie and can't help myself.

First up, the make up bag.  I love Fossil handbags, purses, wallets and it was only fitting that I should love their makeup bags.  Joanne bought it for me in New York in 2012.  It's one of a set of three bags and I've seen them in Clerys and the Kilkenny Shop, possibly Arnotts too.  Anyway, the fact that it's wipable is great because as I carry it around in my bag, things can get messy.  Case in point as on Tuesday, my yogurt exploded all over my bag and my makeup bag was safe.  Phew.  I would have had a mickey fit if anything inside was ruined.  It's a great sized bag that carries all my essentials easily.

So let's get to the goodies shall we?  In January I'm using:

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream & 123 Perfect CC Eye Cream
-Just when I thought I couldn't love another CC or BB cream, Bourjois big fat went and brought this one out along with a matching CC eye cream.  This hasn't been off my face much since being given it back in November and I've a full review coming up on the blog next week.  But sneaky peek, we're talking the perfect level of coverage for moi, covers redness, gives a lovely glow to the skin and evens out my skin tone beautifully.  The CC eye cream is really hydrating and goes on smoothly too, giving a bit of coverage, but not too much.  Stay tuned for the full review next week folks.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
- This is one of only two brow products I every single day.  I fear for people's eyeballs when I don't do my weeny little brows and this one is fantastic.  I feel it in my bones that I'm coming to the end of this one and I'll be honest, I'm quite uncomfortable with that notion.  So Mags, if you're reading this, I might have to pick up one of these.  Or the Make Up For Ever brow stuff…

Clarins Be Long mascara
- I'm giving this mascara a second go after being a bit unenthused by it last year.  Whenever I do a review on something, I don't let myself read reviews on it so that it doesn't sway my opinion.  It's only after I've finished the post that I let myself read and I think I was the only person on the earth who didn't like this mascara.  So I'm giving it the full three week trial period again.  I'm afraid I'm going to miss out on something great because I went with my first impressions!

Bourjois Color Edition 24 hour eyeshadow Or Desir
- I feel like Lisa Eldridge when I use this cream shadow.  I love watching her videos where the majority of her makeup is understated and elegant.  It's only when she does the side by side before and after shots that you really see the difference that subtle makeup makes.  This shadow gives a lovely soft sheen to my lids without being too disco ball-y.  It's perfect for on the go, the packaging is sturdy and my full review is here.

Michael Kors Sexy Bronzing Powder - Flush
- Again, a review of this will be on the blog next week.  It will mainly consist of these words: "It is amazing".  Like the CC cream above, I've been wearing this every single day and it gives *the* most gorgeous glow to my cheeky poos.  It gives not only colour to my otherwise pale face, but the hint of shimmer gives me radiance, the likes of which finds me checking myself out in the mirror.  Scarlet for my actual self.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder - Diffused Light
- For ages now, I've been switching between my Diffused Light powder from Hourglass and my Smashbox Halo Hydrating Powder.  The closing doo daa on my Smashbox powder broke over Christmas, so that's my setting powder when I'm doing my visage at home and Diffused Light is my portable powder, keeping shine at bay without leaving me looking too matte.

Lip products
- I really do understand that I have a problem when it comes to carrying around lip products with me.  But they're so easy to pop in one's handbag and then when one forgets one has already popped one in, it's very easy for one to pop another one in.  And the cycle continues until one realises what one has done, takes all of the lip products out, only to wonder if one has forgotten something in one's handbag because it's so bloody light all of a sudden.

I'm loving these glosses from Smashbox's Wondervision Christmas collection and I'll be honest, only having two of them with me shows incredible restraint on my part because there are five in the set.  They're lovely and shimmery, giving the illusion of juicy lips and were a bargain as they were on sale for €16.25 in the sales.   The only lipsticks I'm toting around with me are this berry beaut from Michael Kors, Dame, which I wore out over Christmas and teamed with perfect looking skin and lots of lashes, I was proud of myself for wearing it out and about!  My final lip product for now is Notting Hill Nude from Rimmel and after seeing it on Orla's blog, I have lusted after it, only finding it in the Tesco beside work and it's love.  A warm, almost caramel nude lippie that's really flattering on and right smack bang in my comfort zone.

So that's what I'm carrying around with me all the time these days.  It's of course supplemented by various products I'm testing out, but on the whole, this is what you'll see me applying in the toilets at work over the sink!

What are your go to products at the moment?

  11. I love having a nose at other people's stuff too so thanks a mil!
I own a bucket load (or two or three or .. you get the gist) or makeup but don't wear it unless I'm going out so have resolved to start wearing some every day. I just love my bed too much to bother getting up the 5-10 mins I need to throw some one. Thankfully, a spending ban has been indirectly imposed on me by being broke! It won't stop me making a wish list though :)

I simply love my bed an excessive amount of to hassle obtaining up the 5-10 minutes i want to throw some one. Thankfully, a disbursal ban has been indirectly obligatory on Pine Tree State by being broke! It will not stop Pine Tree State creating a list tho'.
