Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish - Mayfair Lane

Oh hello lover....

I tend to shy away from pastel pinks when it comes to nail polish because generally there's too much faffing about with them.  My main issue with them is that they tend to be uber streaky and aint nobody got time for that.  I want a polish that gives me opaque coverage in a maximum of two coats thank you very much.

This is the first Nails Inc polish I've ever bought now that I think of it and after seeing swatches of the Gel Effect Polishes online, I knew once I was in the presence of a Nails Inc stand, damage would be done.  I only bought the one, but let it be known that there's a turquoise shade and a coral shade that has my name all over them.  But at €18 a pop, I need to pace myself and wanted to see how this shade worked before buying more.

So Mayfair Lane is a wonderful pastel pink nude shade that makes me feel put together, sophisticated and very much ladylike, while I'm anything but.  The first time I used it, I didn't realise the square cap came off and spent ages giving out about why they shaped the lid like this and who'd be able to apply polish properly with a big rectangle in their hands.  I copped on a couple of days later when I reapplied the polish and all was forgiven.

There's nothing I don't love about Mayfair Lane.  I love the colour itself and love how it's not too pale and watery.  The formula is great and while the first coat is streaky, a second evens everything out beautifully.  It has a wonderful shine and let the record show, one of the girls at work asked if I'd gel nails on.

The end.

Except it's not the end.  This is just the beginning of a long and beautiful, albeit expensive relationship, so stay tuned for more of these beauts because I'm in love!

Have you tried any of these yet?  If so, what other shades do I need apart from the coral and turquoise and the cobalt blue while I'm at it?

  1. Ooh that looks lovely. I'm always on the lookout for a nice pinkish nude that doesn't streak, they're few and far between. Must check this out.

  2. Porchester Square (I've been wearing it for two weeks now) (I KNOW) - it's a nude too with a pale mauve/grey undertone & Kensington High Street is a vibrant burgundy gel.
I picked 'em up during the Look Fantastic sale (that happens often) for just €11 - I'll be waiting for the next one to pick up this pretty!

    1. I never talk about longevity of polishes in my posts because my job keeps my nails in a bad state as it is, but three days in and I've only one chip on my index finger which is unheard of!

  5. Beautiful colour! Nails Inc never seem to last more than a day on me without chipping terrible, even with a top coat, but it's a shame because the colours are beautiful. Just seen your comment above about 3 days with just one chip though so I might try the Gel formula and see if it likes me better :) x

    1. I hear ya, half the time I change my polish so frequently that I never know how long they last. I always use a topcoat though because I tend to apply my polish before bed. Let me know how you get on!

  6. I love my porchester square gel polish & this shade is gorgeous too... I don't think I have a shade like that amidst my other 200 nail polishes so will probably have to get this! :P

  10. Such a pretty colour, I can't wait for summer to come round again to dig out all my girly pinks! Big price tag though - hopefully there's a dupe out and about.
