Behind the Girlie Bits - Joanne's Hen Do!

If you've been following us on Twitter, Instagram and here on the blog, you'll probably know that Joanne had her hen do recently.  I don't know if it's just Ireland who calls it a "do" but it doesn't matter, I love the phrase hen do!

My fellow bridesmaid Lorraine and I started preparations back in January, thinking we'd lots of time and holy moly it flew in!  She was absolutely amazing and we made a great team and already know we're going to plan more things together!  When we decided it'd be in Dublin, Lorraine suggested renting an apartment in town so we had a base that everyone could go back to and we'd have more craic instead of having separate hotel rooms and it was the best idea!

As the planning happened, we decided there would be four phases to the day.

Phase 1 was a lunch in The Port House, one of Joanne's favourite restaurants and we found out on the day that that's where she and Will had their first date!  Awwww!  We knew that mam and Will's mam didn't want to come out for the evening meal, so lunch was perfect and we ate rings around ourselves.  Of course because the craic was mighty, I didn't take photos of the food or anything as we were all too busy enjoying ourselves, but take it from me, The Port House is amazing and you have to get the churros for desert, even if you're stuffed.

Phase 2 involved us going back to the apartment.  Lorraine legged it back while we finished up lunch and set everything up.  The apartment was perfect!  Two bedrooms and a grand kitchen, dining room and living room we could all sit in, have the chats and get ready.

We stayed in one of the StayCity Serviced Apartments in Millennium Walk so we were smack bang in the centre of town.  The place was spotless and if we'd needed it, there's a 24 hour reception.  Our apartment slept 6 but only 4 of us stayed there and I'm telling you, if you're having a girlie night out or when Christmas parties start at the end of the year, having a base like this where everyone can meet and get ready in is so much better than staying in a hotel!  Best idea ever.

We gave Joanne some pressies and she got a leeeedle bit emotional which doesn't bode well for the wedding day!  Waterproof mascara shall be a must!  We got her some nails made with Will's photos on them which went down a storm!  Wendy from iNailz makes customised nails so I sent in a couple of photos of poor Will and look!  They can do logos as well as photos and for €15 per set of 20 nails, they're great craic!  Joanne loved them and spent the night making us look at them!

We got Joanne a word art print made from Feel Creative and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!  I sent in 30 words and phrases and chose the Vintage Block design 40cm x 40cm because I wanted it to fit in a frame Joanne had, so guessed the size as best I could.  It took a week for them to come back with the design and it was perfect!

Lorraine made t-shirts with some of Joanne's famous phrases and they looked deadly!  I must say, it's quite something to see your mam wearing a t-shirt that says Big Willy Style on the front!!

Phase 3 was dinner and although mam hadn't planned on coming out with us, we talked her and her bessie Geraldine into coming for more food!  We went to Cafe En Seine where they'd a lovely set meal for the group, lovely atmosphere and we'd lots of times for more chats, games and laughs.  Let's just say that Joanne's friend Sinead knows Will nearly as much as Joanne does!

Phase 4 involved dancing.  Lots of dancing!  And as Joanne loves the 80s, we had to go to Club Nassau and didn't stop singing and dancing for the night!  Each song was better than the last and we left there with sore feet and no voices, but it was great craic and I'll defintely go back.

The Constantine ladies!

Now of course we filmed a video filling you in on all the nitty gritty details!  We popped our vloggy cherry and filmed a little bit during the day and mixed the vloggy footage in with our chit chat and there's a lot of chit chat!  We go into more detail there about everything, so go get a cuppa, put the feet up and watch us sing, chat and laugh!

We've got more vlogs planned so make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel and hopefully we won't get busted talking to a camera in the bathroom of a hotel!!
