Joanne's Hen's Day and Night Outfits!

Well, I cannot believe my hen's is actually over and the wedding is in 7 weeks!  Karen and my other bridesmaid Lorraine did an absolute amazing job.  The detail they went into from the picture book, to the nails and even Mr and Mrs De Korte pillow cases was just fantastic.  I couldn't have imagined a better day and night.  It was perfect and we'll have more on that soon.  The only stressful part was trying to find something to wear!

Karen had mentioned the week before to have 2 outfits for it.  That's all I knew about the weekend and oh my god, when you want to find something to wear for a special occasion, its near impossible to see anything nice!  I was in town most lunch breaks and even after work trying on dress after dress, but everything seemed really casual or short on me.  Nothing was special enough to wear for my hens.  But the day before the hen's I finally found a top in Oasis and a jumpsuit in River Island.

I love the coral top from Oasis, which was €35 and has loose sleeves down to the elbow, is flowy and comfy too.  I wore it for lunch with dark navy jeans and a light turquoise necklace that I bought in Spain last year.  I'm definitely going to bring it on honeymoon with me too.  I think it would be gorgeous with white shorts too.

We won't go into what Lovely Mammy Bits is wearing *ahem*
Come Friday evening at 7.30pm, I had given up finding something dressier to wear for Saturday night.  The shops were starting to close.  I saw River Island was open and since I had nothing to lose I had a nosey inside.  As I walked around I noticed a jumpsuit.  I have never tried on a jumpsuit before because I couldn't think of anything worse than trying to unzip yourself while drunk when needing to go to the loo, and also being more "blessed" in the bum and hip area, I always thought they wouldn't suit me at all but sure I had tried on every single dress in town so why not! And I loved it!  The top half has black and creamy/white stripes and its boned like a corset too which is so flattering on.  The bottom half is loose but not too loose that it hides your shape.

Finally I had found something I really liked and something I felt dressy in.  Everyone on the day loved the jumpsuit and I already can't wait to wear it again.  It was €75 which compared to most dresses I tried on seemed reasonable but again, this is coming on honeymoon with me, plus I might wear it to my work Christmas party too! (I like to plan ahead!).  I wore it with a turquoise necklace I bought a few weeks ago for €8.90 in Forever 21 and a pink blazer from Miss Selfridge which was €60.

I think I'm all shopped out for the moment but I'm delighted with my purchases.  Where's your favourite shops to hit for a special occasion?

  10. Love both outfits but esp the coral top - I had looked at it in Oasis a couple of days before I saw you on Instagram and bought it when I saw it on you - love it! It was me who tweeted you about the necklace, I love coral and turquoise together but hadn't thought of putting a turquoise necklace with the top, I couldn't see anything I liked in the shops but Forever 21 have loads so I ordered one from them (I'm in Cork!)
You looked fab and so did Karen - looking forward to the video!

  11. That jumpsuit is beautiful on you! I was also disappointed by the lack of dressy clothes in the shops, found it so hard to find something suitable for my sister's wedding.
