La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Compact Cream review, before & after photos

I might be mistaken, but I do believe I've seen the sun in the sky for the past few days and for more than five minutes at a time too!  We don't know how long it'll last for, so we need to make the most of it and catch those precious rays, even if it's only walking from the car to the office!

La Roche-Posay have launched a new Compact Cream as part of their Anthelios XL range and check out the SPF50+, no excuses anymore when it comes to sun protection eh?  It promises to protect your skin while making your face look nice.  Suits me just fine!

The creamy formula looks thick in the compact, but when it makes contact with your skin, it melts gently, making it easy to work with and blend into the skin.  Under the pan is a little sponge that you can use to apply it, but I lost it in about 4 seconds and for me, I'm not really a spongey person as I end up with way too much product on my face.

I've been using it with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and it gives me lots of control when working it into my skin.  I get medium coverage with the cream and it evens out my skin tone beautifully, covering all redness but without looking cakey.  It has a really soft, matte finish but isn't drying on the skin and it's lightweight texture makes me forget I've anything on my face half the time.

I feel almost airbrushed when I wear the Anthelios XL compact cream and because of that finish, I don't have to worry about powdering the skin, which is a step I'm not mad on when it gets into summer.

This offers UVB protection which means I don't have to worry about my face getting burnt along with UVA protection which means that nobody had better ask me if I'm Joanne's mother anytime soon as it'll help slow down the ageing process.  I need all the help I can get in both areas!

For €21, it's great value for money.  The only thing is it comes in just two shades, 01 Sandy Beige and 02 Golden.  I got the lightest shade to try out and it's a perfect match for me, but anyone paler than me would have to blend it down the neck, or use a lighter touch when applying it.

I'll be getting lots of use out of this over the next while as I make it my mission to mind my skin and look nice in the process!

  2. That has a really nice finish to it. I think the lightest will be far too dark for my pale skin though!

  4. It looks gorgeous, have you tried the shesiedo foundation in the blue bottle? I always pick it up for summer. To be honest you have no ageing issues, I'm waging an eternal battle against fine lines but you look as fresh as a daisy, I think the fact that Joanne looks like a teenager may have something to do with that comment! x
