Shiseido Sun Care review

I'm entirely jealous of these two bottles from Shiseido....

Not only were they relaxing in the sun in Spain, taking it easy...

But they were chilling by the pool an awful lot.

As it gets closer to summer, I begin to wish for sunnier climates and despite having no plans for a summer holiday, it still doesn't stop me from wanting to take care of my skin and wanting you to know what options you have for sun protection.  I was kindly given these two bottles before my holiday to Spain last October and have been waiting patiently to put the post up so that you could see them in action.

The smaller bottle is the Expert Sun Aging Perfection Lotion SPF30 (€31) and is formulated for face and body.  It's dinky size makes it really handy to carry around in your handbag too.  It offers UVA and UVB protection, meaning you're protected from burning and aging caused by the sun.  I loved using this on my face in particular when we were in Spain and despite it being super hot, I didn't burn one bit using this.  It absorbs easily and you don't have to rub it in for ages, so you don't have to worry about that white residue that can drive one demented!  It's not sticky and almost feels like a moisturiser on the skin.  I used it on my shoulders too as I've been burnt there so many times in my younger years so had absolute faith that this would do the trick, which it did!

The larger bottle is the Sun Protection Spray Oil-Free SPF15 (€30) and I was very intrigued to see this could be used on the hair along with face and body.  If I was in Ireland, I'd have been happy to use this on my face, but in Spain, I wanted something higher than SPF15, but I used this happily on my body and hair, with nary a burnt patch to be seen.

This stuff is fantastic and feels so lightweight on my skin.  A quick word of advice is to spray it wherever you're going to apply it and then rub it in.  I made the rookie mistake of spraying it on bits of me, then rubbed it in, then couldn't get a proper grip of the bottle to press the nozzle down to apply more!  So spray all over, then rub in.  You can thank me later!

I definitely feel that it helped protect the ends of my hair from sun damage as I didn't come home looking like Wurzle Gummage with straw hair!  This also has UVA and UVB protection so not only did I come home without burning, but I didn't add any extra years to my visage.  Despite it's oil-free formula, it felt really nice and hydrating on the skin and we all used this when we were away.  I can attest that it was resistant to perspiration because I must've lost nearly a stone in sweat and my skin was untouched!  Mam and Joanne used it on their faces as they're living on the edge when it comes to the level of SPF they wear on their visages and they loved it too.

This is the first time we've ever used Shiseido sun care products which is really surprising considering it's number 1 in the US and number 3 in Europe for premium sun care.  I'll definitely be trying more products in the range because they worked, they felt amazing on the skin, protected my skin and made for lovely photos in the sun!  They felt like skincare products more so than sun care ones which means I'd use them in the long term (if I hadn't left them over there for our next holiday!)

Two big sunny thumbs up from me, Joanne and Lovely Mammy Bits!
