New York Sephora wish list #1

So Joanne and I are heading to New York in November with the mothership to complete her birthday celebrations!  She turned 60 earlier this year and we thought it was very fitting to head away with her because the first time we all went was when she turned 50, so the last decade has been filled with lots of fantastic trips to the Big Apple, but this one is going to be even better!  I know it's annoying when people say this but we can't say why it'll be so brilliant, but we'll be vlogging over there and all will be revealed.

Now, as a beauty junkie, the fact that I'll be in the same place as Sephora is huge.  It's enough to give me cramps of excitement as I start my research now and yes, this is what I have to do because going in to Sephora unprepared is setting myself up for failure, for being too overwhelmed with all of the things that I end up coming out with nothing, or for buying all the things, then having buyer's remorse.  So every time I head to New York, I always have a list of things.  Not necessarily products that I want to buy, just products that I need to swatch, try out, investigate and so to make sure I don't forget, I make lists.  So this year I thought I'd do a little Sephora wish list each month so that it keeps me organised, keeps me on track and when I head into Sephora Times Square, I'll have these lists to hand.  Let's get to it shall we?

Sephora wish list

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed - Moonstone
I've been watching Jaclyn Hill for yonks now and she's been raving about this highlighter in recent tutorials.  I would like the glow she has thanks very much and so I'll be giving this a try to see if it'll give me a candlelit glow and help me look lit from within.  Yes.  Get on my face now please.

Formula X - Pyrotechnic
I can't wait to try out the Formula X polishes and know I'm going to be overwhelmed when I'm standing in front of them all.  I can guess I'll end up getting a red like this stunner, a coral, a nude and maybe something dark too.  I've only heard great things about these guys and hopefully because we'll be there before Christmas, they'll have some mini sets out.

Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette
I haven't tried anything new from Too Faced in years and they always have gorgeous palettes on offer.  This one, the Cat Eyes palette looks perfect with golden shades for everyday use, pinky purpley shades for a bit of extra somethin' somethin' and darker shades for a smokey eye.  Yes, I'll be swatching this to see if it's as perfect as I think it will be.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
As a mascara junkie, I'm always on the hunt for new ones and am intrigued at something claiming to be better than sex?  Eyelash sex?  Weird.  But again, Too Faced have me intrigued and I'll be checking out more reviews before deciding if I want to give it a whirl.

Sephora Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation
I've heard fabulous things about this airbrush foundation from Sephora, with obvious comparisons to the Dior Airflash foundation and if it's as good a dupe as I've read, then I'll be picking up a few of these guys because the price difference is insane.  I've never tried a foundation like this before so it'll probably be better to start with something more affordable first eh?

More foundation, but this time it's the Clay Airbrush foundation from Tarte.  I've not tried a powder foundation since Bare Minerals came out here years ago and wasn't too impressed with it because it gave me hardly any coverage whatsoever, so steered clear from mineral makeup since.   But I'll give this guy a swatch because it promises higher coverage, it's Tarte and I trust them, but we shall see, this might be the wild card!

Marc Jacobs Enamoured Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer - Ultraviolet Purple
I will most definitely be checking out all things Marc Jacobs over there and will probably start with the polishes.  Look at the packaging and look at that colour..... Oh yes, Marc and I shall be firm friends in November that's for sure!

Sephora Formula X - The Two
More Formula X things but this time it's a little duo set with a gorgeous pink base and a gold glittery topcoat.  This set is only $11 so a proper bargain and it's only grand if they're smaller than the single polishes because it means I can fit more into my suitcase.  Beauty logic 101 right there.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask
As a big fan of face and hair masks, I was very excited to read about this lip mask from Bite Beauty over on Amelia Liana's blog because as someone who has really dry lips, I'm always on the hunt for new overnight treatments to give my Cicaplast Baume B5 a bit of a rest!  I've high hopes for this and sure any beauty junkie worth their salt will want to try something new like a lip mask won't they?

Finally we have this beaut from Becca and chances are by the time November rolls around, this will either be gone from shops or I'll change my mind on wanting it because it does seem quite beachy and summery doesn't it?  But if it'll give me flushed cheeks, some nice shimmer and a healthy glow then I'll get it and put it aside for next summer because it looks like it might be the perfect peachy corally blush ever doesn't it?

And that concludes my first Sephora wish list!  Only 3 more to go and I've a feeling the closer I get to the holiday, the wish lists will get longer but sure that's the way it is!  Have you seen anything you want to try or have you tried anything here that you can tell me about?

  7. Enabling process begins:

Bite lip mask is a must. Also check out their cashmere lip creams.

Along the same lines of the lip creams try Sephora Lip Stain in 01 and 03.

Buxom is one of my favourite lip brands. Their lipsticks are super creamy and pigmented and their glosses are fab. They do minis around Christmas.

Tarte do fabulous gift sets too. I got the 5 blush palette last year and I use it allllll the time.

The Becca soufflé is bootiful. I have it on my face today and while it's fab during the summer, I won't be retiring this in the winter. It's not too crazy glowy.

I didn't cave to Marc Jacobs. The shade of polish you're admiring is definitely the nicest.

Kat Von D lippies are yummy. I have one on today from her holiday minis too.

Buy roller ball perfumes. They are the Shizz! Elizabeth & James ones are gorgeous. I have the white one.

Skin Care wise - loving Caudalie toner/spray and Jurlique.

Formula X should have minis too. I was very well behaved and only bought 2.

Tarte mascara are worth checking out - the gold one. Lights camera flashes? Vury nice.

    2. Delighted to assist Karen! :-)

I just checked my souffle there the other day and actually it's Watermelon / Moonstone. Also worth a swatcheroony.

Keep an eye on Temptalia too because she does all the Sephora sets coming up to Thanksgiving and the likes when they do the 20% (I'll miss that this year...!)

  8. I'm also going to new york in November and will be hitting up sephora for all the amazing Christmas sets. On the Becca front, you don't need to go all the way to new york to swatch, Becca is now on sale in Space NK on Grafton st. Happy swatching
