DKNY's newest fragrance, MYNY has gotten me all giddy folks. It's not because Rita Ora is the face of the scent, or that the bottle is heart shaped. It's not even because the silver top represents the famous New York skyline that never, ever fails to give me goose pimples when I see it in all it's glory.
I need to give you a little backstory. So you know I love New York and everything about it and over the past 10 years have been there lots on girlie trips. One such trip was circa 2006 and as a perfume junkie, I bought myself a bottle before heading over, one from Charles Jourdan. I've since been rationing it to within a squirt of it's life because every time I smell it, I'm reminded of New York and that trip in particular.
MYNY has familiar notes to that fragrance with top notes of raspberry, pink pepper and galbanum, which sounds super sweet but the spiciness of the pink pepper dulls the sweetness down a bit, giving it a touch of heat. When it dries down, the Egyptian jasmine, freesia and orris kicks in, giving it more sophistication before the base notes of patchouli, vanilla absolute, ambergris and musk leave the smooth, creamy finish.
Now I don't need to ration anything and love the happy coincidence that this scent is aimed to capture the essence of New York and it does. It big fat does for me! And that's one of my favourite things about fragrances - how it can instantly bring you back to a place. So MYNY is now my official New York fragrance and I'm going to decant some and bring it with me in November!
MYNY is out now and prices are €49/30ml, €60/50ml and €83/100ml. Oh and check out their website where you can upload your own photos of New York and make a collage.
Roll on November where I get to bring MYNY to NY!
