Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape review, photos, swatches

Clarins' Spring 2015 Garden Escape collection means that while spring has yet to show it's face around here, it's on it's way in the form of makeup which will do me just fine!  Looking at the collection makes me want to wear pretty dresses, buy flowers and wait for milder days because it is beautiful.

Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape Eyeshadow palette - €41

Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape Eyeshadow palette
You know I've been a big fan of previous palettes from Clarins over the years and was excited to see the new addition in the flesh.  It's so pretty, filled with greens, pinks and a gorgeous neutral taupe shade and we won't even talk about the embossing on the top of each shade.  That's the good.  On to the bad.  Sadly as soon as I swatched it, I was disappointed in the pigmentation of the shadows except for the taupe shade.  But still, I gave them a go on my eyes and attempted to do a green smokey eye, but failed miserably.  Used wet, the colour payoff is slightly better, but everything was left looking really messy and messy, with no definition between the shades, and I ended up removing everything and applying the taupe shade all over the lids for the photos.  For €41, I'd give it a miss, but before you think I've saved you money, you need to read the rest of the post!

Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape Blush Prodige Sweet Rose - €33

I love Clarins blushes and this one is no exception.  Finely milled, this blush has a mix of matte and shimmery bits which you can use separately or together to give a soft flush of colour to the cheeks.  As I'm a firm believer in the whole more is more thing when it comes to makeup, I swirled everything in the palette together to give me this healthy glow that looks like I've been out for a walk when all I've been doing is sitting inside playing with makeup and taking eleven thousand photos of myself!

Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils - €19

Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil Honey (L), Raspberry (R)
Remember how I told you to hold on to your €41 for the eyeshadow palette?  Yeah, you're going to be spending it on these gems.  These are the stars of the collection and for good reason.  As it's still freezing out these days, a lot of us seem to be suffering with dry lips like nobody's business.  So here are two treatments for the lips which you can wear all day every day.  With mirabelle, hazelnut and jojoba oils, the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils are one of the most nourishing things I've ever used on my lips during the day.

I've already spoken about these in a previous video, but can you just take a look at the applicators?  They're super smooth and fit onto your lips beautifully, depositing the oil, leaving a fantastic shine without feeling anyway sticky.  The Raspberry shade gives a really subtle pinky sheen to the lips, but in the photos, they look the same on me.  I love these so much and you can see I've been haring my way through the two of them, but I think Honey is only slightly behind Raspberry on the usage scale.

Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape Joli Rouge Sheer Shine Lipstick - Rose Petal - €21.50

Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape Joli Rouge Sheer Shine Lipsick - Rose Petal
There are two lipsticks in the Garden Escape collection; Coral Dahlia and Rose Petal.  You know I'll be checking out Coral Dahlia as soon as I'm in touching distance of a Clarins counter, but today it's all about Rose Petal.  Again, Clarins' lipsticks are one of my favourite ones to wear because they feel really comfortable on and Rose Petal is spring time in lipstick form.  Wearable for every day use, it's the cherry on top of an already fresh faced look!

Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector - 01 Rose - €19

Clarins Spring 2015 Garden Escape Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector - 01 Rose
Being a massive fan of the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors, I couldn't wait to try the new Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors and was given the shade Rose to test out.  There are six shades int he collection and you know I'll be checking out the nude and coral one because well, it's me and this is what I do.  These are packed with vitamin E, mango and shea leaving the lips feeling utterly hydrated and nourished while giving a light wash of colour.  I haven't decided if I like them more or less than the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors and need to use the two of the solely for a week or two to fully make my decision.  But the fact that I want to buy two more says it all really!

And that's it folks!  For me, Clarins have won spring this year with their amazing lip products and chances are if you go check out the Garden Escape collection, you'll come away with at least one of the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils and an Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector.  Go and investigate, swatch away and tell me what you buy!

See anything that you've put on your wish list?

  1. I was watching the counters waiting for that eye pallette to arrive and then when it did I was so disappointed! I thought the same, the colour was very sheer for that money. I did buy the raspberry lip oil and I've used it everyday since. It's gorgeous!

  4. I'm intrigued by the lip oils but that palette. I don't think so. The colours are a bit... let's just say not my cup of tea. I'm surprised they are bad quality though. Clarins is usually top notch.
