IsaDora Twist Up Gloss - Red Rio review, photos, swatches

Let me set the scene.  I was in a chemist last month swatching up a storm, and I do mean a storm.  There were lines of lipsticks and glosses all over my hand as I was on a mission to get something nice for myself.  It got so colourful on the back of my hand that I forgot which swatch belonged to what lip product and had to wipe everything away and start again.  First world problems eh?!

I was deciding between two of the Twist Up Gloss sticks from IsaDora because I'd fallen in love with a nude shade they gave me a few weeks ago and the formula was so outstanding on that one that I knew I'd be picking up another shade.  It was between a coral one (no surprises there) and this red beaut and obviously the red shade won... This time....  Coral one, I'm coming for you this month...

Rio Red isn't a true red and you know if I pick any shade over a coral one, it's going to have coraly undertones and just look at it....  It's wearable, even for me who's scared of colour!  The formula of these beauts is my favourite out of any gloss stick I've tried so far.  It doesn't just sit on the lips looking lovely.  It feels really moisturising and nourishing when applied without feeling in any way greasy and that's thanks to hyaluronic acid which I'm all about when it comes to my lips.  Anything to do with moisture, especially in the colder months and I'm all over it.

In terms of pigmentation, the photos speak for themselves and the retractable crayon makes application easy peasy.  I love the glossy finish and find that as that fades, my lips are left lightly stained, ready for another application of this or of lip balm.

I can't remember how many shades were on the stand when I was knee deep in swatches, so I urge you to go and check them out for yourself.  And stay tuned for more details on the milky pinky nude shade that I'm racing through at the moment!  But for now, I leave you with this very lovely shot of me, Red Rio on the lips and me trying to cover up my ronnie with said Red Rio.

IsaDora have a full list of stockists on their Facebook page while their website is being updated.  For something in the €13 range, I'll be definitely stocking up on more of these as it comes into summer.

Are we liking Red Rio?  And do you have the coral one and do I need it?  We all know the answer to that one...

  1. This shade is absolutely stunning on you! <3 This would be a great shade for those who want to transition from the usual nudes/pinks to a brighter red, without actually going full-on red at first. :D
