So I bought it unresearched as I like to live on the wild side don't you know. (Shh but we all know I had a hankering to buy stuff that day and a new mascara from Maybelline was never not coming home with me). Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara promises to discover lashes we never knew we had which sounded very appealing altogether. And the "lash multiplying mascara" promise on the tube? I was in!
The brush is one of the plastic types, with larger fanned out bristles on the outside and teeny weeny bristles on the inside. The smaller bristles are laid out in a curve to make it easy to apply and you're supposed to use that side of the brush to apply the product to your lashes before using the longer bristles to add length and volume.
I found the brush easy enough to use and the smaller bristles really did catch all of my lashes, even the ones on the inner and outer corners. The formula is slightly on the wet side so while it did deposit a lot of product on the lashes, I used the longer bristles to comb through them all, leaving them fanned out, long, volumised and looking lovely!
Despite it's wet texture, Lash Sensational still gives my lashes a grand curl which holds up throughout the work day and I think if I give it a couple of weeks and let the formula dry out slightly, we'll be on to something even better!
The photos here show one coat, no eyelash curler used, no eyelash comb used. I haven't needed to add a second layer any time I've used it because I love how it looks with the one. I love before and after photos where I can see just how fair and non existent my lashes are! Bye bye villainous beady eyes! I find that I have to use my regular eye make up remover (Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water) twice to completely remove it at the end of the day because if I don't, I wake up with it smudged under my lower lash line. It doesn't really bother me though because at the end of the work day, my lashes look the same as they did at 6am!
Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara is on stands now and has an RRP of €11.99. I picked mine up for €8.99 on offer in Boots and fans of waterproof mascaras, take note because they'll be releasing a waterproof version in May which I'll definitely be checking out!
So tell me this and tell me no more, have you tried the new offering from Maybelline?
