When it comes to buying spendy makeup, I generally do my research and check out lots of reviews and swatches before handing over the cashola. This did not happen last week when I bought two new lipsticks from Charlotte Tilbury - Pillow Talk Matte Revolution Lipstick and Valentine KISSING lipstick. These are both limited edition for Valentine's Day, but I can see Pillow Talk becoming part of the core collection because people are losing their shizz over it and when I say people, I mean me. I am losing my shizz. I've no shizz left. I'm shizzless.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll probably have heard lots about Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk, otherwise known as the deadly lipliner loved by beauty lovers everywhere. And I judge myself a little bit for not wondering why there wasn't a matching lipstick before now. But there is, it's one of the Matte Revolution lipsticks and it's very fantastic. Valentine is one of the KISSING lipsticks, so it's creamier and glossier and those with dryer lips might find it more comfortable to wear.
I've had so many questions about the lipsticks since I got them, so let's get stuck in shall we? The main question seems to be which one do I recommend for people and I've replied to each and every message the same. "I don't feckin know!" Depending on your colouring, these will look different on you, so the best I can do is show you swatches, photos and let you decide for yourself.

Ok, not going to lie, but as I was about to apply this, I was saying to myself "Please be as perfect as I hope you're going to be". I know. Shut up. I love the Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk so much and hoped that the lipstick version lived up to it. And it does. It big fat does. This is one of those "my lips but better" shades and is really flattering on my skin tone. I'm a big fan of the Matte Revolution lipsticks anyway, Very Victoria being one of my all time favourite lipsticks, and Pillow Talk has the same velvety finish and doesn't dry out my lips. Despite being called a matte lipstick, there's a decent amount of slip to it and is really comfortable to wear.

Valentine is a really beautiful delicate peachy pink nude which is generally a paler shade than I'd usually wear. I always find light shades like this slightly less flattering to wear on me on their own because there's not much definition in my lips, so I found my Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk, lined the lips and then applied Valentine, making it much more wearable for me. This is a nude I can definitely get on board with. It's got a lovely creamy glossy finish to it and I'm looking forward to wearing this lots this spring teamed with the lip liner.

Of course the weirdo in me wanted to compare the Pillow Talk liner with the lipstick just to see how matchy matchy they are and only if you look really carefully can you see that the liner is ever so slightly lighter than the lipstick.
Of the two shades, Pillow Talk is definitely the more wearable for me. It just suits my complexion a bit more and is easier to wear.
A few people asked me how similar Pillow Talk is to Very Victoria so I thought a few photos might help. Very Victoria is slightly browner (can I see hints of grey?) than Pillow Talk and slightly cooler toned too. To the normal person, they're very similar altogether. To the non normal person, the beauty obsessed, they're completely different and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
While I was taking all the photos last weekend, I thought I'd compare Bitch Perfect to Pillow Talk as well and at the time of application, they looked completely different. Like not even a bit similar. In the photos though, yeah, they're very similar. But not the exact same. Bitch Perfect has more orange to it and has a glossy finish. And thats where the differences finish! But hopefully it'll help you decide whether it's worth picking Pillow Talk up if you have Bitch Perfect and Very Victoria.
Pillow Talk and Valentine are limited edition and aren't available in shops at the moment but I'll let you know if that changes. I bought mine from the Charlotte Tilbury website for €30 each. Madness but sure listen, they were for the blog and all! So tell me this, do you think you'll pick one (or both) of them up?
