L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipsticks review, swatches, photos!

It'll come as no surprise that matte lips aren't going anywhere this year.  And thanks to newer, more moisturising formulas, I don't have to worry about my lips looking like a bum hole.  Yes, I used the words bum hole in the opening paragraph of my blog post.  Twice.  That's going to do wonders for my SEO.  New from L'Oreal Paris is the Matte Addiction lipstick collection and with 16 shades, I'm already wanting to check out the rest of them.  I was sent three shades and each of them are gorgeous!

They've the usual distinctive scent that only a L'Oreal lipstick has, but slightly less strong than other ones I've used in the past.  These are enriched with Camelia oil to make them more comfortable to wear, less drying and are packed full of pigment.  I mean it.  You're not going to need to keep swiping them over your lips because they pack a punch in the colour payoff department and are smooth and creamy too.  They don't fully set on the lips meaning there is some transfer but I'd rather that than dry lips!  I've been testing out Erotique all week and it lasts a couple of hours on the lips before I need to reapply and when it's time to add more, my lips are left lightly stained by the first layer.

Swatches time!

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick Shade 640 Erotique

It's only fitting that someone with a blog called Lovely Girlie Bits would love a lipstick called Erotique.  But it's stunning and I've been wearing it all week.  This peachy warm toned neutral shade was made for me and is one of the many neutral shades carried around with me in my handbag, ready to make me feel more put together at a moment's notice.  Love this a very lot.

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick Shade 463 Plum Tuxedo

Plum Tuxedo was a lovely surprise when I started to apply it because I thought it was going to be too dark for me from looking at it in the bullet.  Instead, it's a bright, beautiful, wearable plum shade that instantly makes my eyes look greener.  I'm going to make it my mission to be not afraid and wear this shade out and about!

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick Shade 347 Haute Rouge

You know that reds absolutely terrify me and while I'm happy to sit at home and film in them, wearing them outside the house (or the office) makes me super self conscious.  Some day I'll go wild and wear a red out and about and based on comfort and shade, this is most definitely one that'll be on the list

They retail at €11.99 but at the time of writing this post, they're on offer in Boots for €10.49 and there's a 3 for 2 deal going on too.  I want a coral one.  But who buys one lipstick?  Which would mean I'd have to get 2, but then with the offer, I'd be mad not to get a third one for free.  And this is why I'm broke and have more lipsticks than sense!  But these are too lovely not to pick up more of!

Kerastase Aura Botanica - you're very spendy but absolutely deadly!

Purchased | Affiliate links

A few weeks ago, I got the hair did and also went wild buying a shampoo and conditioner that cost more than my weekly shop, but are totally amazing!  I'd been meaning to get the chop for ages, kept forgetting, and month after month would go by and before I knew it, a full year had passed.  Bad blogger/human being wha!  As usual, I headed to Christian in Brown Sugar South William Street who I've been going to for well over 10 years now and he's The Actual Business.

Look at me trying to jujj my hair.

I wanted to keep a lot of the length (after saying that I didn't want it too short because any time it's too short and I try to curl it, I look like an absolute Toblerone) so he took a couple of inches of the ends and added some long layers around my face.  As he was drying the heavy wet out hair, it instantly felt lighter and bouncier and the shine was insane.  Now I know I'm technically challenged in the "Doing my hair myself" department, especially as I watched him putting GHD curls through it, but I figured I'd at least be able to wash and condition my hair successfully on my own with the products they used.  The girls at work had given me a voucher for Brown Sugar for my birthday before Christmas and I figured it was the perfect time to treat myself.  I bought this duo and couldn't wait to use them, hoping for the best that they'd give me the bounce and volume I need for my cheveux.

Say hello to the Kerastase Aura Botanica shampoo and conditioner.  Now, like all Kerastase products, there's a fierce amount of writing on the front in both English and French and I always feel like I need a dictionary when using them, along with not being able to remember the names of them ever.  People keep asking me what products I'm using and all I can remember is that the bottles are burgundy.  I'm not even entirely sure if they're just called Kerastase Aura Botanica or if I should be saying "Yes so I use the Bain Micellaire followed by the Soin Fondamental".

Because they both cost a fierce amount, I was going to save them for good use, but figured no, I want my hair to look lovely every day.  And so I've been using them every time I wash the cheveux, but am rationing them like a good thing, using the smallest amount each time.

The Kerastase Aura Botanica Bain Micellaire is described as a "gentle, aromatic shampoo for dull, devitalised hair" and that's pretty much how my hair always is.  I've really silky hair that goes flat about 72 seconds after I blow dry it and is weighed down by products so easily.  I wondered if the micelles in this shampoo would work the same way they do in micellar cleansers, attaching themselves to dirt before being removed.  And they do.  They really do.  Each time I use this shampoo, which is sulfate, silicone and paraben free, it lathers up quickly, does the job and leaves my hair squeaky clean.

The Kerastase Aura Botanica Soin Fondamental (that's a fancy word for conditioner) promises to intensely moisturise the hair and it does what it says in French on the front of the tube.  I use a small blob on the lengths of the hair, leaving it in while I do my other showery business and it rinses out without leaving any residue.

What I'm left with each and every time after washing my locks is swishy sleek hair with tonnes of volume.  But not the kind of volume that makes me look electrified or fluffy headed.  I've had so many compliments on said swishy hair with people asking what other products I use in it and it's just these!  I don't have time to faff about every day with products and am all about the short cuts.

I was reading some testamonials on the Kerastase website and a good few people said they felt that this dried out their hair, so that's worth noting if you've dry hair to begin with.  But I've not had that issue at all and would absolutely let you know if I had because these are super spendy.  My hair type is greasy roots and normal ends FYI.

Do you need to spend this much on shampoo and conditioners that are going to wash down the drain?  That's totally up to you.  You know your budget and I'm just telling you what's worked so well on my hair.  Typical that it's spendy wha!  I've already repurchased these because my hair looks and feels only deadly and did I mention the volume?

You can buy them in hair salons nationwide, online on Look Fantastic, on Feel Unique (where they're on sale at the time of this post going live), on Peter Mark and anywhere else you Google "Kerastase Aura Botanica Buy Online".  As much as it pains me and my wallet, this range is a game changer and a hair changer for me.  If you follow me on Snapchat you've probably a pain in your face from me harping on about my hair!

**UPDATE**  After posting this last night, the team at contacted me with a discount code for you, giving you 25% off all Kerastase products!  Use the code LOVELYGIRLIEBITS in the Discount code section in the checkout and save a few bob.  I'm not going to lie, I'm going to be using my own code.  Fact.

Sculpted by Aimee Connolly Highlight & Shading Palette review, photos, swatches!

A few weeks ago, I finally met Aimee Connolly, or as James Butler likes to call her "Sculpted by Aimee Connolly"!  She's gorgeous, an absolute sweetheart and as we chatted, I told her my age and we realised I could be her actual mother... Then I died on the inside for a few minutes...  But she said she'd popped one of her contour kits in the post to me that morning, so I forgot how much of a geriatric I am...  And she sent chocolate too.  I'll be your Mam for a palette and a bar of chocolate Aimee!

Anyway, get a load of the Sculpted by Aimee Connolly Highlight & Shading Palette, complete with accompanying brush.

Inside said trio we have a bronzer, a shimmering powder highlight and a cream highlight and what makes me happy is that the shades work really well on the cheeks and the eyeballs.  This is music to a makeup hoarder's ears.  Summer holidays are coming up and that means I try to cram as much stuff into my carry on as possible so multifunctional products are always welcome.

The brush is well shaped for me to carve out some much needed cheekbones and picks up a load of product, so I always make sure to tap off any excess or else I'll be Uber Sculpted by Aimee Connolly and while that's grand for a night out, for work, I need to use a light hand.  The warm toned bronzer adds natural looking depth to my face and shaves down my absolutely massive forehead beautifully.  It's blendable, buildable and doesn't look muddy on the cheeks at all at all.

The cream highlighter, Champagne Cream, is a great everyday highlight for my skin tone and I usually get stuck in with my finger, patting it onto the tops of the cheekbones that I've just sculpted by Aimee Connolly and also by me.  It gives a really pretty sheen that's great for me for work because in the office, I do not wish to shine bright like a diamond ok thank you.

The powder highlight, Golden Sheen, was made for the summer and nights out.  I will fully admit that the brush picks up so much product that you could see me from space with the highlight and while I do enjoy the whole more is more thing, I'll be saving going wild with it until the summer.  I'm thinking I'll look only massive sitting outside in Spain having a sangria with the sun bouncing off my face thanks to this.  For the photo below, I applied it with a brush and then patted it in with my finger for a more subtle glow.  A second or thicker layer of it would show up the golden sheen to it, but a light layer looks so much more natural and is more wearable for me.

Wearing it on the eyes is easy peasy.  I take the bronzer into the crease using a fluffy brush and blend it up towards the brow bone, softening the edges.  Then taking the middle highlight all over the lids, I am immediately transformed into a golden summer goddess.  Ok I have the eyeballs of a goddess.  Shut up you.  Just to be fancy, I take the cream highlight into the inner corner to make me look wide eyed and very fantastic and I'm good to go.

So I'm doubly Sculpted by Aimee Connolly and don't even know what to do with myself.  The palette is available on the Meaghers Pharmacy website and will set you back a very reasonable €24.95 with the brush coming in at €12.95.

Thanks for sending me the palette Aimee and the brush, and the chocolate and helping me forget I could be your Mam ok bye.  Ah no seriously, it's a gorgeous trio and will be coming on holidays with me for sure!
