Pestle & Mortar Erase & Renew - The Double Cleansing System

Hands up, who double cleanses?  I won't be mad at you if you're just a single cleanser, and if you use wipes, I'm giving you virtual smack upside the head lads.  You can spend all of your money on the fanciest makeup, but if your skin is scaldy, you're wasting your time and money!

I talk about double cleansing a lot and get a good few DMs on Instagram asking why I cleanse my skin twice and when I explain why, I always get the response "Ahhhh I seeeeeee".  I only double cleanse in the evening if I've been wearing makeup because the first cleanser, that breaks down my makeup and removes it.  The second cleanse actually cleans my skin.  In the morning and on days where I'm makeup free, the single cleanse does the job for me.

I was given the Pestle & Mortar Erase & Renew Double Cleansing System * (€60) a few weeks ago to test out and I've been putting the products through their paces since.  A set like this is a great way to try two smaller products (they're half the size of the original versions) without spending as much money.  Go on the Pestle & Mortar!   I have to say that I've been using products from the brand for the last six months or so and I'm just loving them and so is my skin.  And I'm continuing my mission to try all of the products as the year goes on, sure it has to be done!

Anyway, the double cleansing system consists of the Erase Makeup Removing Balm Cleanser - that's the one in the black pot - which has grape seed oil to break down your makeup, mascara and all.  I apply a small amount onto my fingers, rubbing my hands together to warm it up and melt the product before massaging it into my dry skin.  A little bit goes a long way, it smells incredible and one of the most important things for me when it comes to any kinds of cleansers is that it doesn't irritate my eyes.  This doesn't at all and makes quick work of removing my makeup with the next product in the trio - the Double Cleanse Facial Cloth.  This cloth has a soft microfibre side and a muslin side to cleanse and polish the skin.  It's only fab and I'll be stocking up on more of them *.

The second cleanse in the system is the Renew Illuminating Lightweight Gel Cleanser which has fruit enzymes which gently exfoliate and increase cell turnover along with Superoxide Dismutase (this fights free radicals, lessens inflammation and and protects the skin against premature ageing).  It has one of those dispensing mechanisms where you press the top down and product comes out of the middle.  Like the front says, it really is lightweight and leaves my skin feeling soft and looking all lovely and glowy.

As I said earlier, sets like these are a great way of trying a couple of products but without having to shell out for the full sized version.  But if you do want to try the full sized ones, you can buy the Erase Makeup Removing Balm * in full size separately for €45 here along with the 100ml bottle of the Renew Illuminating Lightweight cleanser is €43 *

You can get all of your Pestle & Mortar bits on Cloud10Beauty*, so happy shopping!
