Bourjois Volumizer mascara review

Ever since I saw Tanya Burr talking about this mascara on her youtube channel, I knew I had to try it, so off I went with my Boots card in hand, ready to spend some points.  Now, I got a few things in Boots and for some reason the receipt didn't print properly, so I asked them if I could have it reprinted and they gave me a computer print out. Doh, so I'm not 100% how much it was but will check next time I'm in a chemist that sells Bourjois or if anyone knows, leave a comment below!  It was either €13.99 or €15.99, my gut feeling is €13.99.

Anyway, enough of that jibber jabber, on to the mascara itself!

Bourjois Volumizer mascara may look like a normal mascara, but it is not.  Nope.  It is a 2 step system that promises to "create spectacular 3D volume."  I wonder what 2D volume looks like!  It has 2 separate lids but one brush, I had to check in case the second brush was hidden, but no, two openings and one brush.  Anyway, let's go through the steps.

Step 1 prepares the lashes for 3D volume.  The opening that the wand comes out of is tight and so only a small amount of product is on the wand.  This did lengthen my lashes and did not clump at all.  You could wear Step 1 on it's own as a very natural look, but if that was the case, why did you buy this mascara in the first place?!  We want volume baby and lotsa lashes!

Step 2 is the step that creates the spectacular 3D volume.  The opening that the wand comes through is much bigger so it's just the same wand but lots more product on it.  And I mean lots.  This is not for the faint hearted.  I tried scraping the wand off the side and just made a mess, so I just went with it.  Check out the photos below to see how I got on.

I love this mascara so much.  I mean, check out the bare lashes and that final photo!  This mascara would be perfect for a night out, or if you're a bit more daring, you could totally wear it to work.  I think I'd wear it to work with just the top lashes done.  I have mayja issues with my upper and lower lashes catching in each other and I think it's due to how mascara formulas dry really hard and stiff.  This formula doesn't do that at all.  Although there's a huge amount of product on the lashes, it doesn't feel like it.

I did buy another mascara with my points the other day and will review it later in the week, but so far, this is amazeballs.  Deffo check it out, especially with the 3 for 2 offer currently going on in Boots at the mo.

Has anyone tried this out yet?  If so, what do you think of it?

  6. Great review! It's good to see each of the stages like that. I'm tempted to buy this but I have a million other mascaras so it's not really needed!
