Pukka Ayurveda Nourishing Brightener review

One of my aims in life is to have radiant skin but as the weather gets colder, that aim gets further and further away.  Dull skin reigns supreme and so I end up exfoliating too much in an effort to brighten up my skin a bit.  I love really gritty exfoliants so when this Pukka Ayurveda Nourishing Brightener arrived at Casa Girlie Bits, I stroked my not-so-imaginary beard.  This was almost powdery in texture, so I got to reading more about it.

"Pukka Ayurveda is a deeply effective organic skincare collection inspired by Ayurveda, the ancient Indian philosophy that empowers us to look after our health in harmony in nature."

The Nourishing Brightener contains almond seed, bilberry fruit, turmeric and licorice root, exotic amala fruit, gotu kola and manjistha, all of which work together to exfoliate, soothe, rejuvenate, repair, help microcirculation, purify, and have anti-ageing and antioxidant properties.  All sounds pretty good if you ask me.

Formulator Sebastian Pole says "Nourishing Brightener is specially designed to give skin a radiance boost when it needs it most.  Almond seed is rich in vitamins, minerals and deeply nourishing, shatavari root leaves skin feeling super soft and rejuvenated whilst the multitude of brightening ingredients work to target dull skin and create a glowing complexion."

You can combine it with water, your cleanser, toner or face oil and nourish your skin in different ways.  I love the sound of this!  I used it with water the first time and gave my skin a bit of a scrub before rinsing it off.  When I dried my skin, it didn't feel any different but it wasn't until I went to put my night cream on and then I realised how perfectly smooth my little face felt.  It was really weird, especially since I didn't have to work it in to my skin very much.  Rather marvelous if you ask moi!  I can't say my skin looked brighter after using it but it's early days and I'll report back.

There's a Radiance Serum, Balancing Day Cream, Deep Moisture Day Cream, Firming Face Oil, Gentle Cleanser, Firming Eye Cream, Uplifting Toner and Nourishing Face Oil in the Pukka Ayurveda collection.

The Nourishing Brightener has made a welcome addition to my skincare routine and I'm hoping it will give me the radiant skin I'm after!

The range is available from selected health food shops.  Have you tried any of the Pukka Ayurveda range yet?

  1. This is the first I've heard about this brand and this product, but it sounds very good!

  2. I am liking this too, and I am loving how it smells :)

  3. I'm using the Pukka Nourishing Face Oil (dry skin here), and it is fabulous. I also use the Deep Moisture Day Cream with it - light but absorbing. I'm kind of fanatical about skin care and use a variety of products. The Face Oil goes on twice a day, however.

You're supposed to chose your treatment based on which Ayurvedic body type you are, so these two are for Vatta types.

I'm been humming and hawing about buying this scrub. I'll wait until I use up my Neal's Yard Rehydrating Rose Facial Polish (which is wonderful).
