New York purchases - Sephora!

Something strange happened this trip to New York.... It took me a good five or six days to make it in to my favourite shop, my holy land, my special place.... Cue the holy music... But I made up for the lack of visits in the sheer volume I bought.  I even got a special bag for big spenders, scarlet.  But come on, it was Sephora!  On one hand I hope they don't open one here because I'll be broke and on the other hand, I hope they do so I can loiter and meet fellow product junkies and be in a constant state of happiness.

Yes, NYPD had to step in to make sure I kept my distance and didn't go wild.

NYPD Homicide!
I tried to limit my purchases to things we can't get here in Ireland and apart from one or two bits, I was successful in that limitation.  But only that.  Oh and I'll review anything you'd like in more detail in a separate post, so if you have any requests, let me know.

Want to see what I got?

I am obsessed with the gift sets that Sephora bring out every year.  A couple of years ago it was the nail polish set and when I saw they had the Lash Stash back, I snapped one up, along with this one for the cheeks, In The Glow.  See these are brilliant mini sets.  They've big name brands, are really decently sized and great value.  I love that I can try all of these minis and then figure out what ones I'd buy in full size.

I went Tarte crazy.  After Mags told me I needed this Carried Away Collector's Set, I knew it had to be mine and honestly, it's one of the best beauty sets ever.  I mean look at it.  First up, the packaging, swish!

When you open up the washbag style set, this is what you're greeted with.  Every eyeshadow you could ever need and that's housed behind a big mirror.  There are eight mini lip glosses, a brush, mini mascara, mini setting powder and blush.  Love. It.

Of course I had to pick up some of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes and these were the chosen four.

In the Lancome stand, I was immediately drawn to this bronze, blush and highlight trio.  I hope they bring them over here because it's gorgeous!  I also picked up a Color Design Infinite Eyeshadow in Timeless Taupe.

Check them out close up.  I've used the blush already and it's gorgeous but I'll review it in detail along with lots of other bits from this post.  The eyeshadow is one of those loose shadows that's shimmery, pigmented and lasted from 7am until 6pm with only the barest hint of creasing.

It was love at first sight when I set eyes on this lippie.  YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in shade 5 Mouthwatering Berry looks really dark in the tube but on the lips, it's sheer but still gives colour and I think I'll be wearing it a lot over the coming weeks.

I had to pick up a couple of Hourglass bits and popped Edition lipstick into my basket followed immediately by the Jett Script Precision Liquid Liner that gives the finest line I've ever seen, so I can't wait to start playing with it.

The magpie in me knew it had to try Ciate's sequin nail set and it'll make the sparkliest Christmas manicure over the next few weeks!

As you know, Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill mascara is my favourite mascara so far this year so of course, while away, you'd think I'd have picked up a spare one.  No, one of the afflictions of being a beauty junkie is trying to find something that's even better than the products that are already amazing!  So I bought the Eyes to Kill Excess mascara that promises even more volume.  So I'm looking forward to trying that!

I knew as soon as we booked New York that I'd be picking up an Anastasia Brow Wiz on my travels.  The fact that I have to physically pause for a second so as not to say Anastasia Beaverhausen (Will & Grace reference there), is worth it as it's pretty amazing.

Ok, you know those stands that every shop has beside the counter, made specifically for those impulse purchases of things you don't need and don't even know what they are half the time? Welllll, Sephora has the absolute best impulse buy section as you queue to pay for your bits.  I had to let people go by me to pay because I was there for ages, perusing the little sections and ended up getting these.  Apart from the full sized Caudalie hand cream, which is for mam, the Caudalie Beauty Elixir, Urban Decay De Slick and Becca Beach Tints are all smaller sized, so perfect for trying the product out before deciding if you want to buy it in full size or not.

One of the best things about Sephora is if you have a Beauty Insider reward card, you earn points for freebies!  And they're not just little measly things, no, take a look at these!

So herein lies the end of my purchases.  I'm delighted with everything and now that I've photographed them all properly, I can get stuck in!  If you're going to the States anytime soon, I'm so jealous and I hope this helps you decide what to buy!
