First look! L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splash Bonnie review, photos, swatches

As you know, I was very restrained in terms of my make up purchases when I was away in Spain but on one of my daily perusals of the local chemist, I found the L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splashes and had to pick one up.  For the blog.  Ahem.  I've been wanting to try them for a while after hearing great things about them on the interwebs and of course my first choice was a coraly orange-y shade, Bonnie.  I hadn't posted about it until I found out if this shade was available in Ireland and happily it is, because it's gorgeous.

The Glam Shine Stain Splashes are beautifully packaged and it makes me happy that I can see the colour through the clear part of the tube.  The wand has one of those little wells for when you're applying it to your lips, it deposits the colour and also removes any excess too.  Happy days.

In terms of formula, we're talking about 30% water combined with light oil, making sure it keeps your lips hydrated for the promises 6 hours.  Like the YSL glossy stains, the first layer of the Glam Shine Stain Splash deposits the base colour.  I apply it and let it sit on my lips for a minute or two before going back for the second and third coat, which adds more colour and the all important shine.  It feels lovely and light on my lips and while it isn't sticky, it does feel like you've product on, like a moisturising lipstick.  I get a good 5-6 hours of wear before needing to top up and the gloss fades first, leaving the stain behind which can be topped up with more of the same product or with a clear lip balm.

Bonnie is a vivid colour that is going to be gorgeous in the summer when the sun decides to appear and is a great shade for those of us who are a bit scared of reds but still want a bit of colour to liven up our deathly pallors.

The Glam Shine Stain Splashes are available in eight shades and are totally worth the €11.99 price tag (right now, Boots has a 3 for 2 offer on).  I was sent another one last week that I'll show you soon but these get the Lovely Girlie Bits seal of approval and I'm going to have to investigate more shades next time I allow myself in Boots.

Pigmented, comfortable, moisturising, glossy, what's not to love about these?

Have you tried any of the Glam Shine Stain Splashes yet?

  1. I’m glad it’s not sticky, thats usually the thing that turns me off! Beautifully colour too!

  2. Thanks Nora, looking forward to sunnier days and warmer weather to wear this shade lots ;)
