Joanne Hynes & Sally Hansen for Autumn/Winter 2013

Fans of Irish designer Joanne Hynes will be excited to see her own collection of polishes from Sally Hansen this autumn.  Except it's not a collection per se, rather a selection of her eight favourite shades that complement her "11" campaign.

She describes her choices as being "Powder Purples, Mysterious Mauves, Positive Oranges and Cool Icy Metallics".  Anyone who has seen some of her neckpieces and accessories will know Joanne's a fan of using hand and nail motifs on her designs, so it seemed fitting she team up with Sally Hansen!

On to the collection itself.  I was surprised to see three frosty metallic shades and while I'm not a fan of that kind of finish on my nails, those who are have a good selection.  The rest of the collection is right up my street.  There's even a dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Across The Universe in the form of Mermaid's Tale.

Top Row L-R: Hidden Treasure, Ivory Coat, Mauve Along, Purple Heart.
Bottom Row L-R: Pedal To The Metal, Firey Island, Kook A Mango, Mermaid's Tale.

My favourites are these four shades below.  Mauve Along is one of the best neutral/nude polishes I've tried in ages and has a warmth to it that stops it shy of making you look like you've mannequin fingers. It has a slight pinky purpley undertone to it and I'm loving it.  Purple Heart is a creamy light purple shade with pink undertones to it.  I love that it's a light purple that packs a punch in the colour department as I'm over pastel purple nails and want something with a little more oomph!

Now on to the brights.  Firey Island, where have you been all my life?  This bright, in your face, almost neon orange polish should have been on my nails all summer.  It screams sunshine and tans, but will have to make do with grey clouds and rain this autumn.  Supremely pigmented in one coat, this beaut is one of my favourite shades this year.  Finally we have an oldie but a goodie, Kook A Mango.  This red coral shade has been a favourite of mine since the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure was launched here a couple of years ago and it's one of those must have shades.  Try it and you'll see why!

The Joanne Hynes collection is available nationwide now and retails at €8.95.

Which is your favourite?

  1. These look great...but it will probably be a while before we see this collection here in Australia, we've only just seen the Spring Collection!

By the way, I have an International giveaway on my blog, hope you'll enter..
