10 Green nail polishes, hanging on the wall - Green polishes for St Patrick's Day

Well, not hanging on the wall, hanging out on my makeup storage unit and in front of my lovely tray, but now I've put that song in your head, let's get cracking on the business end of things.  Green nail polishes.  Ireland is supposed to have 40 shades of green, but today, I have 10.  Who needs 10 green polishes in their collection?  Evidently I do.

St Patrick's Day is approaching and one of the easiest way to incorporate a bit of green into your repertoire is via nail polish.  It's probably the only time I wear certain shades of green, but come March 17th, I do like to pay homage to himself and lash on a bit of the green stuff.  There are some newbies and some oldies in my selection of 10, and I've a great array of hues to show you and if at least one doesn't stand out and speak to you, then we have problems.

L'Oreal's Pistacio Drage (€7.69) is part of the Les Blancs collection, which is a quartet of white shades, infused with pastels and this green shade is sommat special.  It looks so crisp and clean on the nails and I feel very sophisticated altogether when I wear it!

Rita Ora's got her own set of polishes out with Rimmel (€4.99) and Breakfast in Bed is a bright mint green shade that has fine silver shimmer running through it.  It's quite a thick formulation and two coats does the job nicely.

For €1.39, MUA has a vast array of bargainous polishes, this one being Pistachio Ice Cream.  The formulation on this one isn't great and even with two coats it wasn't fully opaque.  But if you want a cheap polish and don't mind working a bit at it, then this one might be for you.

Models Own Turquoise Gloss (€7.69) is technically a turquoise polish but it's green enough for me, so shut it!  I'm obsessed with the five shades I picked up and this one will be a close contender for St Patrick's Day.

Barry M's Gelly Hi Shine range (€5.99) is all kinds of amazing and has the best selection of high shine, vibrant polishes.  GreenBerry is pretty similar to Turquoise Gloss, so if you want to save a couple of euro, then this is one to consider.

Essie's The More The Merrier (€9.99) is part of the summer 2013 collection and is a wonderful lime green shade that has Shrek written all over it.  This is St Patrick's day on acid.

Next is L'Oreal Color Riche in the shade Wasabi Hit (€7.69) which is a muted pea green shade unlike anything else in my stash.  I love how it's stronger than a pastel but not really vivid either.  Love it.

If St Patrick was a nail polish, he'd be this next one from NYC, High Line Green (€1.79).  This shade reminds me of Italia 90, probably because we were all head to toe covered in this exact shade.

Aqua Marine, one of the Glossfinity shades (€7.49) from Max Factor is an interesting one, being a muted dark green polish with blue undertones.  Have a look at it in action here.

Sally Hansen have teamed up with Irish designer Emma Manley and have launched six new shades to complement the Manley Spring Summer 2014 collection.  I'm a little bit in love with Spruce Up (€8.65), a wonderful olive-y khaki greeny shade that's chic and will go perfectly with summery neutral clothes that I plan on rocking this year.

So there you have it, 10 green polishes hanging on the wall and if one green bottle should accidentally fall, I will malavoke whoever knocked it over because you need to respec' yo' nail polish and not be knockin' it over.

What shade is speaking to you and what one should I wear on St Paddy's Day? #paddynotpatty

  1. That Model's Own shade is ah may zing!!!! Love it.....and yes, its green, not turquoise!!!

  2. The Barry M one is gorgeous! I have a Catrice one similar to the Nyc one and I think may sport that Monday myself...It has an equally as funky name 'Miss Piggy's Boyfriend'... :D :D

  3. Loving the Rimmel one!! SO pretty and similar looking to Essies Mint Candy Applexxxx

  4. These are all great! I would probably go with the NYC for the big day, with some gold as well.
I am also happy to see you're a supporter of the whole "Paddy's, not Patty's" thing - that really grinds my gears!
