Sephora Perfection Mist Airbrush foundation review, before & after photos

In one of my many New York wish lists last year was none other than the Sephora Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation ($28).  Being the ultimate foundation fiend that I am, I didn't need it, but wanted it with all my heart because I'd never tried anything like it before.  A foundation in aerosol form?  Sure go on.  Dior has had something similar on the market for a while now, but I don't have a Dior budget at the moment, so settled on this guy which I picked up in one of my many trips to The Holy Makeup Land.

Promising flawless skin, I picked up the shade Light, and despite being called that, it's still ever so slightly dark for my winter completion which is essentially blue.  Roll on the brighter days where it's actually daylight after work and I get to feel sunlight on my skin!

The directions on the bottle explain to shake well and holding the bottle 10 inches away from your face, spraying it in circular motions, before blending it in with a brush.  You can also spray it directly onto your brush or makeup sponge for a lighter coverage or if you want heavier coverage, you can hold the bottle closer to your face before spraying it all over and blending.

I'm not going to lie, holding it 10 inches away from my face didn't work for me too well and I felt that some of the product dispersed into the ether, into my hair and onto my beloved scarf, so I hold it closer and work in sections on my face, starting with my cheeks.  It feels quite cool on contact with the skin and it sets quickly, so it's definitely a good idea to do your face bit by bit.  It's one of the most lightweight feeling foundations I've ever tried and I love that it really does feel like I've nothing on my skin.  It dries to a satin finish, giving a slight glow without looking too dewy or wet.  Who wants a wet face anyway?

Time for the before & after photos.  This is one layer blended in with my Beauty Blender.

You can see that it evens out my complexion, hiding the redness on my nose and cheeks, not quite hiding the blemish on my forehead.  But it can be built up for more coverage without looking cakey or too heavy on the skin.  It gives a grand natural finish, blends easily and lasts all day, keeping shine at bay nicely.  The oil free formula works really well on my combination skin and I know this doesn't matter to the majority of you, but it photographs nicely and looks lovely on camera in videos!

Will I repurchase once I run out?  Definitely.  Next time I'm in reach of a Sephora, hopefully in May, I'll pick up another couple of bottles.  Even though Sephora ships to the UK and we can Parcel Motel stuff to Ireland, they don't ship aerosol things, so it's one we need to pick up in person.  All the more reason for a Sephora to open here, or we go on more holidays to places that has it.  Alicante has a Sephora... Just sayin'...

  1. This looks super natural on you and just sits on the skin beutifully. If I am ever near a Sephora this will be a purchase for sure x

  2. I always think things like this are a bit of a gimmick but it sounds lovely and looks really nice on you

  3. It looks lovely on you! I can 100% guarantee you that if I had that, I'd get more on the wall than I would on my face. I am messy enough with liquid foundation, this would be carnage!!
