I’ve spoken about Ella & Jo loads on Instagram since they first launched and realised I’ve never done a post, bad blogger! For those of you who don’t know, Ella & Jo is an Irish company founded by Charlene Flanagan and Niamh Ryan, two fabulous bridies who know their stuff when it comes to the beauty industry and are also busy Mams. They’ve created two deadly products that I use all the time and I thought it was high time to show them some much deserved love!
Ella & Jo Squeaky Clean Brush Cleanser – €20
The Squeaky Clean Brush Cleanser is the first launch from Ella & Jo and it’s a product I reach for all the time. Like all of it. I went through a phase years ago of despising cleaning my brushes and would end up just buying more because of the effort of it all. Then I copped the feck on. Having a product like this makes makeup brush life so much easier because I actually enjoy spot cleaning them now. Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but this actually works in seconds and it’s very rare that I need to go back in with it more than once. I’ve tried spray cleaners for my brushes over the years and never found one that worked as well as this and was easily accessible too. This has a zesty citrus scent thanks to orange peel oil and not only does it clean my brushes, but it disinfects them too. If you’re a makeup artist, you’ll already know how important it is to disinfect your tools between clients, and if you’re only getting in to makeup, this is something worth learning now. Bacteria is never a good thing, especially when we’re talking about your poor eyes. And also, if you’re trying to whittle down your brush collection, having something that works effectively on your stash means you can spot clean them daily and have the same core brushes ready for the next day. It’s worth noting that even though I spot clean my brushes, I still deep clean them with a solid cleanser every week or so.
Ella & Jo 3 in 1 Hyaluronic Skin Mist – €20
I’m very partial to an aul skin mist, especially in the winter and have been spritzing the 3 in 1 Hyaluronic Skin Mist liberally and often since it first launched last year. Along with Hyaluronic Acid which we all know helps skin retain moisture, it also contains ingredients including chamomile which is an anti-inflammatory, cucumber which helps balance oily skin along with Witchhazel, and soothing Aloe Vera. It can be used before makeup to moisturise the skin, as a setting spray over your makeup if you like a dewy look and throughout the day. Because I’ve oily skin and don’t really go for a dewy look because my mush takes care of the dew all by itself, I don’t tend to apply it over my makeup. But on non makeup days, this gets sprayed on my bare skin and all is well in the world. Niamh and Charlene have done so well creating two whopper products and I can’t wait to see what’s up their sleeves next!
