Sculpted by Aimee Liquid Lights Matte Blushes – Toasted Sienna

I’ve found The Perfect Blonzer… Oh it’s a little beaut of a product and something I didn’t know I was missing until I tried it! Enter Sculpted by Aimee’s Liquid Lights Matte Blush in the shade Toasted Sienna – €21.

This was recently launched along with Real Peachy as a duo of matte blushes. And it’s a welcome addition to the Sculpted range by me. I do love a glowy blush, and Aimee and the team know how to give good glow, but sometimes I don’t need that much radiance in my makeup, especially if my skincare and foundation have already amped up the glow factor.

Now, despite their description of being matte, Toasted Sienna and Real Peachy aren’t a flat matte. I don’t think Sculpted could do that if they tried as glowy is Aimee’s middle name – Aimee Glowy Connolly (this may or may not be true…) But imagine a satin look on the skin, that dries down to a velvety matte finish, but doesn’t have a matte look, that makes the skin look soft, yet naturally radiant. I feel like everything I just wrote there is a contradiction, but it’ll make sense when you try it!

Toasted Sienna packs a punch when it comes to colour payoff, so I’d recommend a softly, softly approach when applying this. But as a person with Blush Blindness, I am the queen of being able to fix too much blush on my skin. And yes, I soften the blush when I overapply it and then apply more. That’ll never change.

How to apply Toasted Sienna

When it comes to a pigmented product like this, I like using a fluffy brush to blend it out. The Sculpted by Aimee Complexion Duo Brush has been my go-to, but the Perfecting Duo Brush would also work well. You can absolutely blend it in with your fingers or a sponge, depending on the finish and control you’d prefer.

I like to apply two dots of Toasted Sienna in the general cheekbone area. Since I use this as a blonzer (a mix of blush and bronzer), I don’t have to be too precise about the placement, as it is going all over my cheeks, up into my temples, across the top of my forehead, and across my nose. Because I blend it out across so much of my face, I prefer using a fluffier brush. It does the blending for me.

I’d recommend working on one side of your face at a time, just so that you can blend it all out before it dries down. You can always go back and add more easily because it builds beautifully.

Toasted Sienna is described as “A rich terracotta for that just-back-from-holiday warmth.” And that’s the perfect way to describe it. Think of a warmer, red-toned bronzer that can be used for more than just sculpting and warming up your complexion. This is sun-kissed in liquid form – the type of product that would have people saying, “You look lovely and healthy looking, were you away?”

The colour stays put all day, even in a heatwave, and I know for a fact that I’ll be repurchasing this when I finish it, because it’s perfect. PERFECT.

Will I repurchase Toasted Sienna?

I hope it’s not a limited edition product, but if it is, I’ll be buying a backup now because this gives good face.

I filmed a first impressions/demo of the two shades for Instagram, which you can watch below. At the end of filming, I was trying to decide which of the two shades was my favourite. I do love a peachy blush, but when I thought for a few minutes, I realised that I have other peach shades in my blush collection, but I don’t have anything like Toasted Sienna. My summer glow will be kept going strong with this shade.
